<div>Burr &amp; Forman LLP has an immediate opening in our Birmingham, AL office for a full-time, experienced litigation paralegal for the Financial Services Litigation Practice Group. This position requires expertise in legal terminology, document preparation, and case management, as well as familiarity with state and federal court procedures. The paralegal will be responsible for drafting legal documents, filing subpoenas, and conducting legal research while maintaining strict timelines and deadlines. Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are essential. The ideal candidate will also possess proficiency in various legal software and tools to facilitate efficient operations.

KEY CONTRIBUTIONS
<ul>
<li>Perform complex paralegal duties requiring knowledge of legal terminology and legal processes including case management from inception through discovery and verdict.</li>
<li>Prepare, edit, and/or draft correspondence, reports, and legal documents.</li>
<li>Prepare, edit and/or file in-state and out-of-state subpoenas, briefs, pleadings, and other filings in various state/federal courts.</li>
<li>Plan and schedule conferences, depositions, and/or meetings.</li>
<li>Maintain calendars including court deadlines and appearances and deadlines for discovery.</li>
<li>Conduct searches through computer databases such as library, Secretary of State, PACER, SJIS, LEXIS, Internet, Autotrack, etc.</li>
<li>Create complex database for documents.</li>
<li>Prepare PowerPoint presentations.</li>
<li>Prepare summaries and analyses of research, reports, etc.</li>
<li>Review documents for privileged material and prepare drafts of discovery documents.</li>
<li>Assist with discovery matters and handle document productions.</li>
<li>Perform legal searches and retrieve case law.</li>
<li>Prepare for mediations, depositions, hearings, conferences, trials, and other court meetings as needed.</li>
<li>Proofread documents.</li>
<li>Work independently and collaborate with team.</li>
<li>Respond to inquiries for information.</li>
<li>Other responsibilities as needed.</li>
</ul>
THE ESSENTIALS
<ul>
<li>A bachelor&rsquo;s degree, paralegal certification or degree, or appropriate combination of education/experience.</li>
<li>Must be familiar with the State and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, have strong organizational and communication skills, excellent writing skills and the ability to draft documents, and be able to work independently.</li>
<li>Experience with drafting and electronic filing of pleadings, motions, deposition scheduling and summarization, trial preparation, and legal research.</li>
<li>Knowledge of PACER, Word, Excel, Outlook, and other document management software.</li>
<li>Knowledge of e-discovery and Trial Director; Relativity helpful.</li>

Paralegal

<div>The Orlando, FL office of Burr &amp; Forman, a dynamic, service-oriented law firm, seeks a case support specialist to join our growing team. This role handles reception duties and provides administrative support to attorneys and other team members.

 KEY CONTRIBUTIONS
<ul>
<li>Assist in the preparation and processing of legal documents such as summonses, subpoenas, complaints, appeals, motions, pre-trial agreements, requests for production of documents, and other due diligence items.</li>
<li>Prepare correspondence, office memos, documents, e-mails, and other materials.</li>
<li>Assist with preparation and setup for meetings, hearings, depositions, and trial.</li>
<li>Monitor case documents and create/maintain indexes of client documents; review case documents for important dates and update calendars.</li>
<li>Scan, record, and index documents and files for the document management system and extranets.
</li><li>Manage file materials and records including locating, retrieving, preparing for offsite storage, and transferring and/or destroying records.</li>
<li>Enter and edit billable time; organize and submit expense reimbursements; submit CLE credits; and open and close new client matters.</li>
<li>Handle copy jobs, certified mail, mail pickup/drop off, and local hand deliveries.</li>
<li>Handle reception duties, including answering switchboard, greeting guests, directing callers and guests to appropriate destination, and scheduling conference rooms.</li>
<li>Order office and break room supplies; coordinate catering orders for meetings and assist with other special events.</li>
<li>Other responsibilities as needed.</li>
</ul>
THE ESSENTIALS
<ul>
<li> A high school diploma or equivalent and relevant work experience required; a college degree is preferred.</li>
<li>Professional appearance and demeanor with commitment to providing exceptional client-service.</li>
<li>Highly organized, detail-orientated, and proactive with a desire to take ownership.</li>
<li>Proficient with Microsoft Word and Outlook. Proficiency in MS Excel is a plus.</li>
<li>Balance competing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment, exercising patience and professionalism during stressful situations.</li>
<li>Strong verbal and written communication skills.</li>
<li>Must be able to lift and/or transport materials weighing up to 25 pounds.</li>
<li>Some overtime required.</li>
