Co-Op (Spring 2026) (Work Management) 


Position Overview:

Assist with all aspects of service within the Work Management department and Work Control/Maintenance processes. 


Location:

On-site in Erwin, TN. 


Your Day to Day as a Co-Op for Work Management:
<ul>
<li>Assist with reviewing Work Packages and Preventive Maintenance procedures to ensure appropriate permits, work instructions (including work sequences, pre-requisites, acceptance criteria, etc.) and signatures are complete prior to execution. Assist with correcting deficiencies, as needed.</li>
<li>Function as a liaison between groups, as necessary, to provide safe and efficient completion of work requests.</li>
<li>Assist with scheduling maintenance work items.</li>
<li>Assist with processing/scanning of work packages to ensure required records are retained appropriately.</li>
<li>Assist with document creation and routing</li>
<li>Assist with manpower and personnel scheduling.</li>
<li>Order parts and assist with warehouse management</li>
<li>Assist with daily PM printing, sorting, distribution, comment resolution, parts and materials ordering, etc.</li>
<li>Learning overall Maintenance process and observing maintenance evolutions.</li>
<li>Observing and learning PM performance</li>
<li>Track Maintenance efficiency and monitor maintenance metrics.</li>
<li>Sort and organize Maintenance bench stock and supplies.</li>
<li>Assist with audits of WM signage, labeling and postings.</li>
<li>Assist with PIRCS related information gathering and tracking</li></ul> 


Required Qualifications:

Must be a currently enrolled high-school senior level student age 18 or greater.

Requires U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance which involves an extensive criminal and financial background investigation and previous employment reference verifications. 


Pay: $18.50 


The starting hourly rate for this position in Tennessee (US-TN) is expected to be $18.50 per hour. The hourly rate offered is based on local job market factors and other objective business considerations. Position Overview:
 
The Project Chief Engineer, working in close coordination with the Program Director, Lead Systems Engineer, and Engineering disciplines will lead the development of a novel nuclear reactor and plant from product development through delivery and testing. The Project Chief Engineer will be the technical design authority for the program, as delegated by the Director of Engineering, and will collaborate with and be supported by a multi-disciplinary team of engineers. Your Day to Day as a Project Chief Engineer:
<ul><li>Responsible for the technical integrity of the reactor and plant design.</li>
<li>Define key technical approaches.</li>
<li>Facilitate technical problem resolution among various disciplines and stakeholders.</li>
<li>Work with Engineering management to ensure high quality engineering work products.</li>
<li>Work with Program Management, Systems Engineering, and Quality Assurance to identify technical and quality requirements and synthesize innovative solutions that meet the requirements.</li>
<li>Work with the Systems Engineering, Design and Testing organizations as the verification plans are developed to ensure the adequacy of the test program.</li>
<li>Facilitate the interface between the manufacturing, procurement, and design organizations.</li>
<li>Lead the review and disposition of non-conformances during manufacturing and assembly activities.</li>
<li>Review engineering deliverables for overall technical adequacy and cohesiveness.</li>
<li>Collaborate with customers, suppliers, and partners in the development of the nuclear reactor plant product.
</li><li>Work with potential vendors and perform technical oversight of vendor activities.</li></ul> 


Required Qualifications:
<ul><li>A minimum of fifteen (15) years of relevant work experience is required.</li>
<li>Must have demonstrated experience in nuclear reactor design.</li>
<li>Experience leading technical teams for medium and large projects is required.</li>
<li>Must have superior written and verbal communication skills up, down and across organizations, both internally and externally.</li>
<li>Must have strong technical decision-making skills.</li>
<li>Must be able to work within a fast-paced development environment with the demonstrated ability to be flexible.</li>
<li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Project is required.</li>
<li>Travel (~20%) is required.</li>

BWXT Advanced Technologies is seeking a Mechanical System Design Engineer. This position is focused on system design, not detailed component design, and will report administratively to the Mechanical System Design Supervisor. The System Design Engineering group supports programs for internal and external customers across Advanced Manufacturing, Medical Radioisotopes, and Nuclear Reactor Design.

Your Day to Day as a Mechanical System Design Engineer:
<ul><li>Identify relevant system requirements and interface requirements then prepare appropriate system design documentation such as system design descriptions and control narratives.</li>
<li>Select components (e.g., valves, heat exchangers), perform basic calculations, and prepare specifications for their detailed design.</li>
<li>Design piping systems including line sizing and pressure drop calculations.</li>
<li>Create appropriate output documentation such as process flow diagrams, P&amp;IDs, component data sheets and system test request documentation.</li>
<li>Utilize appropriate regulations, design codes and standards (e.g., ASME) for fluid systems.</li>
<li>Coordinate with other interfacing disciplines such as electrical engineers, I&amp;C engineers, mechanical equipment designers, and test engineers.</li>
<li>Prepare and present system design results to internal and external stakeholders.</li></ul> 


Required Qualifications:
<ul>
<li>A Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Physics or an Engineering discipline is required.
</li><li>A minimum of four (4) years of relevant work experience is required.</li>
<li>Must possess a technical background in mechanical engineering design, fluid systems, thermodynamics, and process instrumentation.</li>
<li>Proficiency with standard Microsoft Office applications is required.</li>

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design of system components for high temperature gas reactors (HTGR&rsquo;s) and light water reactors (LWR&rsquo;s) ranging from space to terrestrial applications. Your Day to Day as a Mechanical Design Engineer:
<ul><li>Perform detail component, system and design engineering activities including drawings, specifications, calculations, and reports.</li>

Your Day to Day as an Electrical System Design Engineer:

Your Day to Day as a Cyber Security Analyst:
<ul><li>Support Cyber Security program efforts in the areas of Vulnerability Assessment and Remediation, Access Control and Authorization, Policy Enforcement, Application Security, Incident Response, and Threat Detection.</li>
<li>Assist with the implementation and maintenance of the site Technical Security Program, including prevention and detection technologies (e.g., cell phone detectors and spectrum analyzers), performing walk-downs and site audits, conducting annual assessments, etc.</li>
