<div><p><b>Cabell Huntington Hospital</b> is seeking a part-time <b>Specimen Collection Tech </b>to work with in our <b>IP Specimen Collection Department.
</b></p><p></p><p>The primary purpose of the Inpatient Specimen Collector is to collect venous, arterial and capillary blood specimens for analysis by the laboratory technical staff. To support and assist in obtaining non-blood specimens within scope, ex. Routine sterile and clean catch cup urinalysis, nasal swabs for viral culture, covid, flu, throat swabs for strep or throat culture etc.</p>
Requirements:
<ul><li>High School diploma or equivalent required.
</li><li>Junior College/Technical School preferred.
</li><li>Phlebotomy Certification from an approved school OR 6 months experience required.
<ul><li>The kind of position-related experience includes venipuncture and specimen collections.</li>
</ul></li><li>National Phlebotomy Certification preferred.
</li><li>AHA BLS required.
</li><li>Successful completion of the Medical Terminology exam required.</li></ul></div>

Specimen Collection Tech

The Patient Care Assistant works in a supporting role to nursing by conducting patient care activities. Applicants provide direct and indirect non-professional nursing care under nursing or medical supervision. Primarily this includes but is not limited to performing duties such as cleaning, taking vital signs, obtaining lab specimens, charting, escorting patients, assisting with activities of daily living, managing clerical duties and ordering and receiving supplies.<br>

Candidates interviewed for this role will be asked to present proof of required degrees, certificates and/or certifications at the time of the interview. Candidates unwilling or unable to provide said documentation will not be considered.<br>
