Job Summary: 
Prepares and splices fiber optic cables in both indoor and outdoor environments. 
Essential Duties &amp; Responsibilities:<ul><li>
Splices fiber optic cables including both loose tube and ribbon optic cables.</li><li>
Constructs a proper splice case, including but not limited to grounding, bonding, isolation, slack storage, and sealing.</li><li>
Prepares and maintains accurate splicing records, schematics, and diagrams.</li><li>
Performs work in accordance with industry standards and adheres to safety procedures.</li><li>
Maintains control of activities surrounding the assigned work site(s).</li><li>
Supports project timelines and provides accurate feedback.</li><li>
Other duties as assigned.</li></ul> 
Job Qualifications:<ul><li>
2+ years of technical education or training required.</li><li>
2+ years of field experience as a telecommunications technician required.</li><li>
Working knowledge of telecommunications infrastructure required.</li><li>
Familiarity with fiber optic cable and splice enclosures required.</li><li>
Must have a valid driver&rsquo;s license and a clean driving record.</li><li>
Travel will be required and may be up to 80%, depending on the business needs.</li><li>
Ability to work long hours involving overtime and weekends, as necessary.</li><li>
Ability to respond to the needs of a 24/7/365 operation.</li><li>
Must be able to work emergency schedules during natural disasters and network outages.</li><li>
Individuals must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record meeting the company and insurance policy conditions.</li></ul>

Ability to read effectively from a computer screen, sampling device and/or paper copy.</li><li>
Ability to drive and back up a truck and trailer proficiently.</li><li>
Must be able to stand for long periods of time on varied surfaces.</li><li>
Position requires working outdoors in all types of weather.</li><li>
Ability to climb and work at elevations (i.e., from ladders, poles, lift trucks) exceeding 18 feet.</li><li>
Able to use a shovel and post hold digger.</li><li>
Ability to work at heights up to 50'.</li><li>
Must be able to climb poles.</li><li>
Lifting up to 50 pounds several times a day.</li><li>
Overhead lifting of over 20 pounds.</li><li>
Ability to work in confined spaces (i.e., attics, crawl spaces, utility holes).</li></ul> 
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision depth perception, and ability to focus.
