JOB DESCRIPTION: 
The Physician Assistant in an Ambulatory Surgical Center provides patient-centered care before and after outpatient surgical procedures. Responsibilities include performing pre-op evaluations, managing post-op recovery, prescribing medications, educating patients and collaborating with the surgical team. Depending on specialty and regulations, minor procedures may also be performed. 
<div>Key Responsibilities: 
<ul><li>Pre-Operative Assessment: Review medical history, conduct physicals and order labs to evaluate surgical readiness.</li><li>Patient Education: Explain procedures, risks, post-op care and pain management.</li><li>Informed Consent: Ensure understanding of procedures and proper documentation.</li><li>Post-Operative Care: Monitor recovery, manage pain and address complications.</li><li>Medication Management: Prescribe and administer post-op medications as needed.</li><li>Discharge Planning: Provide instructions, schedule follow-ups and address concerns.</li><li>Team Collaboration: Coordinate care with surgeons, anesthesiologists and staff.</li><li>Documentation: Maintain accurate records of assessments, care plans and progress.</li><li>Quality Improvement: Participate in initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes.</li></ul></div><div> 
Required Qualifications: 
<ul><li>Active PA-C license and specialty certification (e.g., Acute Care, Surgical)</li><li>Surgical or perioperative experience preferred</li><li>Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills</li><li>Excellent communication and patient education abilities</li><li>Ability to work independently and respond to emergencies</li><li>A car and driver&rsquo;s license are preferred. (Mileage, tolls and gas are reimbursed)</li></ul></div><div> 
Experience and Skills: 
<ul><li>Minimum 2 years of vascular/endovascular experience</li><li>Strong leadership, organization and teamwork skills</li><li>Proficient in basic computer use; EHR experience preferred</li><li>Wound care experience is also desired.</li></ul></div> 
Work Environment: 
This position is mainly a clinic based practice, seeing about 15 patients per day, and will include vascular consults in nursing homes. Exposure to blood-borne pathogens; OSHA training required. Regular use of standard office equipment. Reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities.
