Job Description Summary:
The Investment Analyst (IA) position will be based in Arlington, VA or Boston, MA as an integral member of the CA Institute team. CA Institute is a specialized team within Cambridge Associates that serves as the firm&rsquo;s central hub for institutional research. Our research examines best practices across endowments and foundations as it pertains to portfolio management, the endowment&rsquo;s role in financial budgeting/planning, and investment oversight and governance practices.
 
The IA will split their time between three core functions: data analysis, producing research content, and client engagements. Data analysis entails the collection of client data and industry trends and validating that information is suitable for use in producing research. The research role involves using client and industry data to create content that appears in published reports and other research materials. Client engagement includes responding to time-sensitive inquiries on our data and research and supporting longer-term projects.
 
Success in this position requires first and foremost a keen eye for detail and a commitment to producing accurate work. The IA will be working with large datasets and producing research content that is widely consumed by clients and other colleagues. In addition, the position requires strong qualitative judgement during the data collection process and in helping clients determine the proper research analysis that best supports their specific needs. Finally, the IA will need to be comfortable managing multiple deadlines and working collaboratively with other team members and colleagues of the firm. 
 
 
Job Description:
RESPONSIBILITIES
<ul><li>Collect investment and financial data via surveys and other methods, ensuring data integrity through quality checking procedures.
</li><li>Communicate with clients and other colleagues of the firm throughout the data collection process and resolve any data issues that are identified.
</li><li>Analyze investment and financial data that is collected from clients and contribute to the research content that is produced in the team&rsquo;s regular research reports.
</li><li>Prepare customized analyses and exhibits for clients and other colleagues as requested.
</li><li>Respond to client inquiries that pertain to research and data that the team produces.
</li><li>Work closely with other IAs on the team to ensure there is sufficient support provided on both long-term research projects and daily assignments.
</li><li>Coordinate across client teams, other internal departments, and CA Institute team members to ensure that the most up-to-date information and insights are being used across the firm and that all stakeholders can use this information to provide excellent client service.

<ul><li>Strong academic credentials; BA/BS required.
</li><li>Interest in and familiarity with investment and financial concepts is essential.
</li><li>Desire to work with endowments, foundations, and nonprofit institutions.
</li><li>Demonstrated analytical and organization skills.
</li><li>Excellent oral and written communication skills.
</li><li>Ability to manage multiple projects at once while ensuring work is completed accurately and on time.
</li><li>Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and PowerPoint, and ability to learn new applications quickly.
</li><li>Experience with using ChatGPT, Claude, or other AI tools to accelerate data analysis and draft comprehensive research summaries.

Job Description Summary:
Investment Analysts on the Venture Capital team assist Investment Directors (IDs) in the evaluation of venture capital and growth equity firms and the monitoring of current market conditions for the benefit of Cambridge Associates and its clients. The US Venture Capital team consists of four Analysts and Associates (IAs), who work under the supervision of three IDs.

Job Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Coordinate and participate in fundraising meetings and portfolio updates with general partners. Participate in manager assessment process and write summary analyses of each meeting for distribution within the firm.
</li><li>Work with IDs to diligence and underwrite investments in venture capital and growth equity firms. Due diligence responsibilities include attending and participating in on-site meetings; analyzing a manager&rsquo;s organization, investment strategy, investment performance, and fund legal terms; conducting reference calls with portfolio company CEOs and senior-level professionals; and preparing materials for committee meetings.
</li><li>Serve as a resource to client-facing IDs and IAs seeking current information on venture capital opportunities, including data and analysis, comparison to other fund managers, and the opinion of the research team.
</li><li>Monitor market trends related to fundraising and investment activity and contribute to periodic market updates that are accessed by IDs, IAs, and clients.
</li><li>Prepare materials for and participate in monthly firm-wide meetings in which the global private investments team discusses recent manager meetings and current investment opportunities of interest with client-facing investment directors.
</li><li>Represent Cambridge Associates at annual manager meetings.
</li></ul>Qualifications:
<ul><li>Received or expected BA/BS in any discipline (minimum GPA of 3.3)
</li><li>Demonstrated interest in venture capital and growth equity asset classes and understanding of its role in a diversified institutional portfolio
</li><li>Boston or San Francisco office
</li><li>Strong writing ability and oral communication skills
</li><li>Strong analytical and quantitative skills
</li><li>Ability and willingness to engage in conversation with managers and references
</li><li>Solid MS Office skills (in particular, Word and Excel)
</li><li>Strong work ethic and ability to work both independently and as part of a team under tight deadlines
