What You&rsquo;ll Do
This position is responsible for the duties of a Medical Assistant, assisting the front desk as well as performing phlebotomy.
Medical Assistant-Primary Tasks<ul><li>
Performs medical intake procedures including vital signs and history.</li><li>
Performs complete patient evaluation and assessment.</li><li>
Records and reports on symptoms, reactions, treatments and changes in patient&rsquo;s conditions.</li><li>
Performs immunizations as directed by the physician.</li><li>
Practice safe phlebotomy skills using standard precautions</li></ul>
Front Desk-Primary Tasks<ul><li>
Practice CAN Community Health&rsquo;s mission, vision, and values</li><li>
Greet and assist patients with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality</li><li>
Accurately collect, process and post patient payments, including co-pays, deductibles and outstanding balance.</li><li>
Verify and updated patient insurance information and eligibility during check-in</li><li>
Schedule and confirm patient appointments, managing any necessary follow-up for missing documentation</li></ul>
Phlebotomy Tasks<ul><li>
Perform venipuncture and fingerstick on all patients as ordered</li><li>
Identify patients using two unique identifiers and verify test orders prior to specimen collection.</li><li>
Prepare collection sites using aseptic technique and select appropriate collection equipment.</li><li>
Label specimens accurately at the point of collection.</li><li>
Process, centrifuge, and prepare specimens for transport or analysis according to laboratory protocols.</li></ul>

Requirements:

Education/Professional Experience:<ul><li>
High school diploma or equivalent required</li><li>
Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred</li><li>
Certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA) is required or ability to achieve certification within 6 months of hire.</li><li>
CPR certification required</li><li>
1+ years of experience in a clinical setting preferred</li><li>
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus</li><li>
Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and have valid insurance and driver&rsquo;s license.</li></ul>

What You&rsquo;ll Do
Technician works directly with the pharmacists to fulfill prescription medication orders and maintain inventory control.<ul><li>
Answer phone &amp; assist customers</li><li>
Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist:</li><li>
Assist patients as required</li><li>
Enter prescription information into the pharmacy computer system</li><li>
Enter patient information into the pharmacy computer system</li><li>
Contact all new patients for demographic and insurance info</li><li>
Upon receiving new antibiotic scripts, contact patient immediately to inform them &amp; process</li><li>
Maintain updated patient profiles including allergies</li><li>
Initiate communication with prescribers for clarification of missing prescription information as directed by the pharmacist and allowed under state and local law</li><li>
Intake and typing of new and refill prescriptions</li><li>
Accept refill requests, proactively contact patients to see if they are ready for refill</li></ul>
Pharmacist may delegate these tasks to technician:<ul><li>
Data entry</li><li>
Labeling of preparations and prescriptions</li><li>
Retrieval of prescription files, patient files and profiles</li><li>
Counting, weighing, measuring, and pouring of prescription or stock legend drugs and controlled substances, including the filling of automated medication system</li><li>
The acceptance of an authorization to dispense medications pursuant to a prescribing practitioner&rsquo;s authorization to fill an existing prescription that has no refills remaining</li><li>
Organizing of or participating in continuous quality improvement related events, meetings, or presentations</li></ul>
