Job Summary
The Victim Witness Coordinator serves as a liaison between victim, witnesses, and the Prosecuting Attorney&rsquo;s Office, ensuring they are informed, supported, and prepared throughout the legal process. The position involves providing advocacy, assistance, and guidance to victims and witnesses of crimes while maintaining compliance with legal and ethical standards. 
Key Responsibilities<ul><li>Support and Advocacy</li></ul>
o Contacts the victim to assess their condition and needs, offering information, support, referrals to social service agencies, shelter resources, legal system assistance and other necessary aid
o Provide emotional support and crisis intervention for victims and witnesses
o Explains victim rights, legal procedures, processes and terminology
o Acts as a liaison between the victim and prosecuting attorney, providing updates on case decisions and developments while conveying the victim&rsquo;s concerns, reactions, and preferences to the attorney
o Escort victims and witnesses to hearings and trials, ensuring they are informed and feel safe
o May provide transportation for victims to shelters, medical appointments, counseling services, court proceedings, or other necessary aid<ul><li> 
Resource Connection &amp; Safety Planning</li></ul>
o Assists victims in applying for protective orders, compensation and restitution
o Connects victims with counseling, shelters, financial assistance, or other support services
o Helps victims implement safety security measures, including jail releases notifications, emergency phones, safety alarms and other protective resources<ul><li> 
Administrative Duties</li></ul>
o Ensures victim impact statement is complete and distributed to all relevant parties
o Sets appointment with attorneys
o Maintains accurate and up-to-date victim information files<ul><li> 
Other Duties</li></ul>
o Performs all work duties and activities following county policies, procedures, and safety practices
o On-call after regular work hours to respond to emergency situations
o Other duties as assigned

Victim/Witness Services Coordinator

Job Summary
The Paralegal in the Civil Division provides comprehensive administrative and paralegal support to the Prosecuting Attorney&rsquo;s Office, primarily assisting the elected Prosecuting Attorney and Civil team in fulfilling the Office&rsquo;s statutory and constitutional responsibilities. This position requires a high degree of initiative, discretion, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. 
Key Responsibilities<ul><li>Legal Support</li></ul>
o Provides case support for civil litigation (including State Court, Idaho Court of Appeals, Idaho Supreme Court, U.S. District Court) Coordinates and maintains calendars related to Civil Division events, dates, and deadlines
o Drafts legal documents, correspondence, and/or memoranda for review by attorney
o Assists civil attorneys in county personnel and risk management matters
o Works independently and collaboratively with attorneys and supervisors to ensure project and case requirements are accurately completed and delivered on time
o Prepares courtroom exhibits and assists attorneys in courtroom presentations<ul><li> 
Administrative Duties</li></ul>
o Independently procures records, documents, etc. for completeness and accuracy of files
o Maintains documents, files, and spreadsheets related to client contact and requests for legal advice (including work product and privileged communications)
o Prepares, reviews, and maintains documents, files and spreadsheets related to county contracts, procurements, property, and other county matters
o Prepares and reviews documents facilitating county government policies and procedures
o Files documents with the court and distributes documents as necessary<ul><li> 
Communication</li></ul>
o Quickly assesses, responds to, and/or routes Civil Division communications
o Provides information to the public and/or law enforcement personnel regarding subpoenas, court events, case status, etc.<ul><li>

Job Summary
The Deputy Prosecuting Attorney represents the State of Idaho as a trial attorney in the prosecution of criminal, quasi-criminal, and limited civil actions in Juvenile, Magistrate, and District Court proceedings and assist the elected Prosecuting Attorney in performing the statutory and constitutional functions of the office. 
This is a multi-level class series in which incumbents may be assigned to any of five levels, depending on organizational needs, professional legal experience, individual expertise and skill, proficiency, and complexity of assigned caseload. Positions in these classes are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the entry level. Progression from one level to the next is at the discretion of the appointing authority, provided minimum qualifications are met. 
Positions within the class:
Rule 226 Provisional Deputy is the pre-entry level in the Deputy Prosecuting Attorney (DPA) series, assigned to law students and recent law school graduates studying for the Bar Exam. Provisional Deputies are legal interns admitted under Idaho Bar Commission Rule 226 to the limited practice of law.
Deputy Prosecuting Attorney I is the entry level in the (DPA) series, assigned to employees with limited previous legal experience who are fully licensed to practice law in the State of Idaho. This class is typically used as a training class and employees work under immediate supervision while learning job skills and tasks.
Deputy Prosecuting Attorney II is the first working level assigned to employees with at least the equivalent of one year as a DPA I. Under general supervision, employees at this level perform work of average difficulty in all phases of criminal, quasi-criminal, and limited civil practice.
Deputy Prosecuting Attorney III is the full journey level assigned to employees with the equivalent of at least two years&rsquo; experience as a DPA. Employees at this level are assigned increasing difficult and complex cases and should require limited instruction or assistance.
Deputy Prosecuting Attorney IV is the senior journey level assigned to employees with the equivalent of at least three years&rsquo; experience as a DPA. Employees at this level are generally assigned more difficult and sensitive cases, are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies within the CCPA and require only occasional instruction or assistance as necessary. 
Key Responsibilities:<ul><li>Manage assigned cases:</li></ul>
o Perform screening duties, including review of incoming police reports to determine which charges, if any, will be filed against whom
o Prepare complaints
o Prepare witness list and confer with citizen witnesses and law enforcement agents
o Research case-specific legal issues and draft motions, orders, and memoranda
o Negotiate potential case resolutions with defense counsel/defendants as appropriate, in accordance with facts, law, and policy
o Prepare questions, legal strategies, jury instructions, jury selection, opening and closing statements
o Prepare witness for trial
o Present evidence and argument at arraignments, preliminary hearings, hearings on motions, trials, juvenile proceedings, mental commitment proceedings, and Grand Jury<ul><li> 
Supervision &amp; Training:</li></ul>
o Conduct legal research as necessary to stay abreast of court decisions and legislation affecting practice of criminal law
o Conduct training for law enforcement agents designed to improve procedures for arrests, searches, seizures, etc.
o Exercise direct supervision over attorney, investigators, and support staff in accordance with Office policies and procedures
o Participate in interview and evaluation and training of employees<ul><li> 
Public Outreach:</li></ul>
o Respond to legal questions from law enforcement agencies and obtain search warrants by being on call 24 hours per day, per the duty roster of the CCPA
o Conduct outreach and advise the public on criminal practice and issues of community concern, including the rights of victims, complainants, and witnesses<ul><li> 
Other Duties:</li></ul>
o Assist other counties as Special Prosecutor when so directed by the PA
o Maintain confidentiality and comply with Idaho Rules of Professional Conduct
o Performs all work duties and activities following county policies, procedures, and safety practices
