Prior experience working with ProConnect, QuickBooks Online and being an Excel master is a big plus! Also, one of our biggest selling points is our great customer service, so being able to communicate well in writing and over the phone with our staff and clients is a must.Job Duties include<ul><li>Informing clients or employers on the tax preparation process</li><li>Collecting relevant financial records</li><li>Inputting data from financial records into tax return software or databases</li><li>Prepare federal and state tax returns for individuals and businesses (LLCs, C Corporations, Partnerships, S Corporations)</li><li>Completing and filing tax documents with appropriate agencies, like the IRS, state and local government entities</li><li>Acting as a representative for clients with applicable agencies as required</li><li>Building customer relationships to promote and expand the business</li><li>Responds to client communications via email, phone within 24 business hours</li></ul>We are looking for someone who meets the following criteria:<ul><li>In-depth knowledge of applicable tax laws, regulations and deadlines</li><li>Proficiency with common tax preparation, word processing and spreadsheet software applications</li><li>Familiarity with the tax return submission and confirmation process, including how to navigate the IRS and other government entity online platforms</li><li>Excellent customer service skills, including patience and flexibility</li><li>Great organizational skills, including time management and strategic thinking</li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills</li><li>Keen attention to detail</li><li>Proficient in 1120, 1120S, 1065 and 1040 returns as well as accounting math and written and spoken English</li><li>Accounting degree and background, well versed in small business tax accounting principles and concepts</li><li>Have a valid Enrolled Agent certification and PTIN</li></ul>The job is full time Monday to Friday year round- we have clients that need tax help at all times of the year! The start and end time are a bit flexible- we are on the west coast but have clients across the country and internationally, so business hours in your own time zone are fine. If you enjoy consulting with business owners who are looking for tax saving advice and help multiple times per year and working with a manageable number of clients and returns year round rather than crunch time stress and then long periods of inactivity, this may be the perfect position for you. We are looking for a CPA with experience doing business entity and personal returns for business owners who can be client facing and build a relationship with them by providing value in planning and support for each one rather than focusing on high volume production and once a year contact with clients.We do tax returns for our bookkeeping clients, so the books will be ready and prepared before you start the return. We generally do both the business (Most often S Corp, but also Partnership, C Corp and Schedule C) and personal returns with clients in most states.**Previous experience preparing and signing business returns, along with a CPA qualification is required for this role.**Ultimately, you will play a vital role in our company&rsquo;s ability to serve clients looking for a single source for bookkeeping, tax and advisory services. We have a great reputation for quality work and great customer service and want to build on that base by adding people to the team who share those priorities and values.The goal is to start with doing the end to end process but quickly grow to being able to manage a team of other preparers and take on a leadership role in building a high performing tax department. We have over 1100 bookkeeping clients, nearly all of whom are open to moving their tax work to our firm. Getting clients is NOT the issue here! Serving them effectively and with the same level of customer attention and care they are currently getting is the focus. As the department continues to grow the ability to grow in the position is open to personal interest and ambition and can become a bigger role or stay in a comfortable position serving a fixed number of clients and maintaining the desired work/life balance throughout.Responsibilities<ul><li>Fully prepare, review and sign business and personal returns including 1120, 1120S, 1065, 1040/Sched C, accurately calculating/reporting deductions (home office, auto expenses, etc)</li><li>Evaluate entity structure to advise clients on Tax compliance, including foreign owned US entities. Consult with clients on entity selection and Tax planning</li><li>Provide excellent customer service by being responsive to client's requests.</li><li>Ability to follow prior work papers and update them to support tax information reported on tax returns.</li><li>Ability to concisely communicate to clients information that is needed to complete their tax returns as well as complex tax concepts.</li><li>Be truly eager to learn something new everyday and to embrace change.</li><li>Provide Tax advisory consultations and proactively suggest tax savings strategy to current and prospective clients</li></ul>Skills<ul><li>Proven work experience as a Certified Public Accountant and active CPA license</li><li>Thorough knowledge of accounting and financial procedures and preparing the various types of returns</li><li>Strong technical skills preparing personal tax returns.
