Summary
Accurately and efficiently transport patients, wheelchairs, stretchers and traction equipment to and from the nursing units and ancillary departments. Use transport equipment correctly ensuring safety measures are adhered to. Cleans, repairs and maintains equipment for operability. Support the philosophy of nursing to provide better patient care.<h1 class="jobSectionHeader">
Major Job Functions</h1>

Transport patients with appropriate and approved devices safely and in a timely manner</li><li>
Observe patients for any changes in condition and report these promptly to shift supervisor and appropriate nursing staff</li><li>
Demonstrate correct techniques in handling patient tubes, IV&rsquo;s and other patient equipment</li><li>
Demonstrate proper procedure for transporting patients</li><li>
Utilize proper body mechanics to discharge, transfer and position patients during transport</li><li>
Identify transportation equipment in need of repair and follow appropriate steps to repair equipment for safe use</li><li>
Use Rover device properly with EPIC Transport Command Center</li><li>
Other duties as assigned</li></ul><h1 class="jobSectionHeader">
Minimum Qualifications</h1>
The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:<h2 class="jobSectionHeader">
Education and Formal Training:</h2><ul><li>
High school diploma or equivalent required</li></ul><h2 class="jobSectionHeader">
Work Experience:</h2><ul><li>
1 year experience in patient transportation services and prior hospital experience preferred</li></ul><h2 class="jobSectionHeader">
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:</h2><ul><li>
Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language</li><li>
Ability to meet and maintain requirements of a healthcare transporter</li><li>
Ability to meet requirements for CPR for Healthcare Provider, Nonviolent Crises Intervention (NCI) training and Restraints, Seclusion and Safety devices</li><li>
Ability to identify, understand and regulate flow meter on E-Cylinder</li><li>
Ability to display exemplary customer service skills</li><li>
Good problem solving skills, organizational skills, flexibility</li><li>
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to quickly assess situations and respond promptly and appropriately</li><li>
Ability to care for pediatric, adolescent, adult, bariatric, and geriatric patients</li><li>
Demonstrated competency with respect to the age specific physiological, developmental and spiritual needs of the patients typically served</li></ul><h2 class="jobSectionHeader">
Physical Requirements:</h2><ul><li>
Ability to discharge/transfer patients and maneuver wheelchairs and stretchers with patients, including postmortem transport</li><li>
Ability to manipulate and monitor transport equipment, which often accompanies patients</li><li>
Ability to assume awkward positions</li><li>
Ability to move within assigned areas and throughout the medical center and detached buildings as necessary</li><li>
May require moderate to heavy lifting</li><li>
Ability to stand, walk and/or bend for prolonged periods of time</li><li>
Speech, visual and auditory acuity is essential for communication</li><li>
Position may involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood</li></ul>

Summary
Assists teacher in providing the developmental and care needs of children while helping to maintain a quality program at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center Child Development Center. Helps to maintain a clean and safe environment.<h1 class="jobSectionHeader">

Uses curriculum items and methodology developed by the teacher with individuals and groups</li><li>

Follows teacher&rsquo;s lead during class time</li><li>
Accurately follows established center procedures and routines (diaper changing, emergency procedures, schedules, etc.) without immediate supervision</li><li>

Proof of course completion in NC Credentials EDU119 Early Childhood Development with six (6) additional hours in Early Childhood Development from an accredited school required</li><li>
Out of state coursework must be reviewed by the NC Division of Childhood Development</li><li>
Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED from the American Heart Association (AHA) required</li><li>
Infant Toddler Safe Sleep (ITS-SIDS) certification required</li></ul><h2 class="jobSectionHeader">
Work Experience:</h2><ul><li>
2 years of responsible classroom experience in a professional childcare setting and or elementary school preferred</li></ul><h2 class="jobSectionHeader">
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:</h2><ul><li>
Knowledge of physical, intellectual, emotional, and social characteristics of children ages birth to five years.</li><li>
Ability to read, write and communicate effectively.</li><li>
Ability to communicate effectively and visually observe children in the classroom.</li></ul><h2 class="jobSectionHeader">
Physical Requirements:</h2><ul><li>
Work involves a variety of activities to include walking, standing, and lifting of children and various objects.</li></ul>
