Assesses the patient and identifies patient care needs</li><li>
Uses patient assessment information to organize appropriate patient care</li><li>
Plans, organizes, implements, and evaluates patient care</li><li>
Facilitates a safe environment</li><li>
Maintains required competencies</li><li>
Functions as charge nurse as assigned</li><li>
Maintains an accurate and relevant record of patient care</li><li>
Administers medication as ordered by physician</li><li>
Recognizes life threatening situations and responds appropriately</li><li>
Establishes collaborative interdisciplinary relationships with other Health System staff and medical staff</li><li>
Monitors the quality of care based on pre-established outcome-oriented indicators</li><li>
Actively participates in cost containment and assists in accurate charging for patient services</li><li>
Adjusts care based upon age-specific physiological and psychosocial needs of patients</li><li>
Supports patients in the practice of their cultural and spiritual beliefs within limits of medical regimen</li><li>

Minimum Qualifications</h1>
The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:<h2 class="jobSectionHeader">
Education and Formal Training:</h2><ul><li>
Associates Degree in Nursing required</li><li>
Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred</li><li>
Current licensure in North Carolina as a Registered Nurse or Compact state licensure</li></ul><h2 class="jobSectionHeader">
Work Experience:</h2><ul><li>
None</li></ul><h2 class="jobSectionHeader">
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:</h2><ul><li>
Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills</li><li>
Verbal and written skills required</li><li>
Demonstrates effective organizational and leadership skills</li><li>
Has knowledge of the age-specific physiological and psychosocial, developmental and spiritual needs of the patients typically served</li></ul><h2 class="jobSectionHeader">
Physical Requirements:</h2><ul><li>
Speech and auditory acuity for communication of patient needs</li><li>
Visual acuity for observation of patients</li><li>
Much standing, walking, bending, and lifting</li><li>
May involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material</li><li>
Must be able to lift 35 pounds</li></ul>

Summary
Assists teacher in providing the developmental and care needs of children while helping to maintain a quality program at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center Child Development Center. Helps to maintain a clean and safe environment.<h1 class="jobSectionHeader">
Major Job Functions</h1>
The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below. In addition, specific functions may change from time to time:<ul><li>
Uses curriculum items and methodology developed by the teacher with individuals and groups</li><li>
Discusses the program and its relation to each child&rsquo;s needs with the lead teacher</li><li>
Assists teacher with curriculum planning and gathering of materials needed to implement daily learning activities</li><li>
Follows teacher&rsquo;s lead during class time</li><li>
Accurately follows established center procedures and routines (diaper changing, emergency procedures, schedules, etc.) without immediate supervision</li><li>
Interacts positively with children and provides and appropriate role model</li><li>
Participates in parent involvement program including writing for the center&rsquo;s newsletter, regularly scheduled parent-teacher conferences, and parent meetings</li><li>
Maintains a clean, safe and health learning environment</li><li>
Other duties as assigned</li></ul><h1 class="jobSectionHeader">
Minimum Qualifications</h1>
The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:<h2 class="jobSectionHeader">
Education and Formal Training:</h2><ul><li>
High School or equivalent required</li><li>
Proof of course completion in NC Credentials EDU119 Early Childhood Development with six (6) additional hours in Early Childhood Development from an accredited school required</li><li>
Out of state coursework must be reviewed by the NC Division of Childhood Development</li><li>
Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED from the American Heart Association (AHA) required</li><li>
Infant Toddler Safe Sleep (ITS-SIDS) certification required</li></ul><h2 class="jobSectionHeader">
Work Experience:</h2><ul><li>
2 years of responsible classroom experience in a professional childcare setting and or elementary school preferred</li></ul><h2 class="jobSectionHeader">
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:</h2><ul><li>
Knowledge of physical, intellectual, emotional, and social characteristics of children ages birth to five years.</li><li>
Ability to read, write and communicate effectively.</li><li>
Ability to communicate effectively and visually observe children in the classroom.</li></ul><h2 class="jobSectionHeader">
Physical Requirements:</h2><ul><li>
Work involves a variety of activities to include walking, standing, and lifting of children and various objects.</li></ul>
