<b>Primary Purpose:</b><br>
To provide instructional resources and information services to administrators, faculty, and students; to maintain an enriched educational environment containing a wide variety of materials that will invite intellectual growth; and to aid all students in acquiring the skills needed to take full advantage of information technology and work in a complimentary and cooperative manner with building and district staff.<br>
<br>
<b>Qualifications:</b><br>
<br>
<b>Education:</b></div><ul><li>
Master's degree in Library Science.</li><li>
A valid Texas teacher's certificate or such other credentials as may be required by the State Board for Educator Certification for this position.</li></ul><div><br>
<br>
<b>Special Knowledge/Skills</b></div><ul><li>
Knowledge of library and information science</li><li>
Ability to instruct and manage student behavior</li><li>
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills</li></ul><div><b>
Preferred Experience:</b></div><ul><li>
Two years creditable classroom teaching experience</li><li><div>
Library/Media Center experience in public school setting preferred.</div></li></ul><div></div><div><b><br>
Major Responsibilities and Duties:</b></div><ul><li>
Solicit actively recommendations from teachers and staff to modify the collection based on identified curriculum needs.</li><li>
Provide materials and bibliographies for &quot;classroom teaching&quot; support.</li><li>
Offer periodic training for instructional applications of new technologies.</li><li>
Participate actively in curriculum planning and implementation on a regular basis.</li><li>
Inform teachers and students about the appropriate techniques of electronic data access and how to use most effectively the materials and equipment in the media center using a structured instructional approach.</li><li>
Employ strategies to help students internalize behaviors for independent research and develop skills in information management to complete academic assignments successfully.</li><li>
Assist students and staff in the appropriate selection of books and other instructional materials.</li><li>
Plan and participate in cooperative community involvement.</li><li>
Arrange media-related displays and exhibits which involve staff and students and correlate to current curriculum topics.</li><li>
Provide annual reports to the district coordinator as requested.</li><li>
Prepare and administer the media center budget in cooperation with the campus principal.</li><li>
Perform clerical tasks as indicated in district policies and procedures for libraries.</li><li>
Maximize opportunities for professional growth through staff development and active participation in professional organizations and district coordinated programs.</li><li>
Take an active role as the campus leader for the instructional use of multi-media applications and new educational technologies.</li></ul><div></div><ul><li><b><br>
