The Cass County State&rsquo;s Attorney&rsquo;s Office performs many duties including prosecuting crimes within the county. This position is a member of a four-person team supporting the Assistant State's Attorneys, Legal Assistants, Victim Witness Coordinators, Restitution Coordinator, and Office Manager.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE NEEDED
<ul><li>Secretarial work experience or experience in an office setting; college coursework in an administrative support program may substitute for the experience requirement if it provides the knowledge and skills required for the duties of this position;</li>
<li>Excellent telephone, communication, organizational and problem-solving skills;</li>
<li>Competent in the use of computers and have excellent keyboarding skills to include a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly and efficiently learn various law enforcement software programs;</li>
<li>Able to handle a very demanding workload with the ability to work at a fast pace with high accuracy;</li>
<li>Able to successfully handle and prioritize multiple tasks;</li>
<li>Produce a concise work product with moderate supervision;</li>
<li>Satisfactory performance in prior employment.</li>
</ul>
DESIRED AND/OR PREFERRED
<ul><li>Previous work experience in a legal setting:</li>
<li>Criminal justice experience to include basic knowledge of court and legal terminology;</li>
<li>Able to work for numerous people;</li>
<li>Customer service and multi-line telephone experience;</li>
<li>Able to quickly and efficiently learn various software programs.</li>
</ul>
JOB DUTIES
<ul><li>Answer and distribute in-coming telephone calls;</li>
<li>Assist people as they enter the office;</li>
<li>Data entry for case management;</li>
<li>Intake for law enforcement investigations reports including time sensitive matters;</li>
<li>Run criminal histories and driving abstracts;</li>
<li>Close files and transmit fingerprint cards to BCI;</li>
<li>Draft and file documents for traffic/non-criminal files;</li>
<li>Miscellaneous clerical duties as assigned by the State's Attorney;</li>
<li>File room duties as needed.</li>
</ul>
Timely and regular attendance is required as is the ability to interact productively with co-workers, court staff, law enforcement, and members of the public.

WHAT'S NEEDED FROM AN ASSISTANT STATE'S ATTORNEY?
We're looking for someone who can work 8 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday and meet the following qualifications:<ul><li>
Bachelor's degree</li><li>
Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school</li><li>
Active member of the North Dakota bar and in good standing by your start date</li><li>
Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills</li><li>
High-quality research and writing skills</li><li>
Quick analytical ability</li><li>
Satisfactory performance in prior employment</li><li>
Ability to accurately and precisely articulate critical issues in a case</li><li>
Ability to work in a supportive and professional manner with other attorneys, support staff, and the courts</li></ul>
Preferred qualifications:<ul><li>
Criminal prosecutorial or defense experience</li><li>
Civil legal and appellate experience</li><li>
Law enforcement or related field experience</li><li>
Knowledge of 4th, 5th, and 6th Amendments to the US Constitution</li><li>
Strong desire to work in a prosecutor's office</li></ul>
