Overview</p><p>
CBS News is seeking a Senior Producer, Podcasts to oversee editorial production across its 48 Hours podcast slate, including two weekly flagship shows and a portfolio of limited series. This role will lead a team of producers and associate producers, driving editorial excellence, production quality, and operational efficiency across both video and audio formats.</p><p></p><p><br>
The ideal candidate is an experienced editorial leader with a strong production background in news and documentary programming, with an emphasis on legal or true crime storytelling. They are equally comfortable shaping stories and managing teams, with a track record of delivering high-quality content on deadline in fast-paced environments.</p><p></p><p><br>
This position reports to the Vice President of Podcast Editorial and works with the Executive Producer of 48 Hours</p><p></p><p><br>
Key Responsibilities</p><ul><li>Oversee production across the video podcast slate, including two weekly flagship shows and multiple limited series</li><li>Manage, mentor, and provide editorial guidance to Producers and Associate Producers</li><li>Set and uphold editorial standards, tone, and storytelling quality across all podcast content</li><li>Oversee episode development, including concepts, rundowns, guest booking strategy, and scripting</li><li>Ensure seamless execution of studio recordings and production workflows</li><li>Partner with the Video Editors to maintain high standards in post-production, pacing, and visual storytelling</li><li>Review cuts and provide clear, actionable editorial feedback</li><li>Manage production timelines, resources, and deliverables across multiple shows simultaneously</li><li>Collaborate with marketing and audience teams on distribution strategy, promotion, and growth</li><li>Identify and implement workflow improvements to scale video/audio production efficiently</li><li>Support the development and launch of new podcast series and formats and ensure all deliverables meet deadlines across video, audio, and social platforms</li></ul><p></p><p><br>
Qualifications</p><ul><li>8+ years of experience in podcasting, video production, or broadcast/digital news, ideally with a journalism background</li><li>Proven experience managing producers or leading production teams</li><li>Strong editorial judgment and storytelling skills in news, talk, or documentary formats</li><li>Experience overseeing multiple projects or series simultaneously</li><li>Deep understanding of video and audio production workflows</li><li>Strong communication and collaboration skills</li></ul><p><br>

This role spans both traditional IT and broadcast engineering disciplines including:</p><br>

Work successfully with both the IT Manager and Director of Engineering to ensure the availability and proper operation of the computer network, servers, workstations and associated equipment.</li><li>

Assist and train end users in the best use of technology and file-based video workflows. Also, provide best practices support for remote desktop and VPN access.</li><li>
Create and maintain accounts in Active Directory, Open Directory. Manage user permissions, access rights and help desk systems.</li><li>
Confirm that software updates and patches are properly installed. Maintain security solutions including anti-virus, firewall, malware and intrusion detection systems.</li><li>
Provide and maintain system backups and recovery.</li><li>
Provide strong leadership for implementing disaster recovery protocols.</li><li>
Assist with tracking and compliance for device data and equipment disposal, fixed assets inventory, access control and environmental health and safety.</li></ul><p></p><p><br>
