We&rsquo;re looking for a Payroll &amp; Benefits Manager to lead and continuously improve our payroll and total rewards programs. This role blends strategy with hands-on execution and partners closely with HR, Payroll, and Accounting to ensure our people are paid accurately, supported with strong benefits, and set up for long-term success.</p><p>
You&rsquo;ll also lead and develop a strong payroll and benefits team, helping drive accuracy, efficiency, and growth.</p><div></div><div><br>
Responsibilities:</div><ul><li>
Oversee end-to-end payroll for a large, multi-state workforce (weekly, bi-monthly, monthly)</li><li>
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll laws (including California)</li><li>
Partner with HR on onboarding, terminations, and employee changes</li><li>
Lead process improvements and automation efforts, especially in payroll and timekeeping</li><li>
Manage and improve our benefits and wellbeing programs</li><li>
Oversee 401(k) plans for both union and non-union employees</li><li>
Ensure accurate contributions, reporting, and compliance (including audits and filings)</li><li>
Partner with brokers and vendors to stay competitive and cost-effective</li><li>
Lead open enrollment and ongoing employee education</li><li>
Ensure compliance with ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, and other regulations</li><li>
Stay ahead of regulatory changes and adjust programs as needed</li><li>
Help shape compensation and benefits strategies that support business goals</li><li>
Lead, coach, and develop payroll and benefits team members</li><li>
Serve as a go-to resource for complex payroll or benefits questions</li><li>
Create clear, simple communication to help employees understand their total rewards</li></ul><div>
Qualifications:</div><ul><li>
5+ years of payroll experience, ideally in a large, multi-state environment</li><li>
3+ years working with retirement plans (401k)</li><li>
Experience supporting both union and non-union employees preferred</li><li>
Strong knowledge of payroll and benefits compliance</li><li>
Experience with HRIS systems and integrations</li><li>
California payroll experience required</li><li>
A leadership mindset with a focus on team development and continuous improvement</li></ul><div>
A plus, but not required:</div><ul><li>
Certifications such as SHRM-SCP, SPHR, CEBS, CCP, or similar</li><li>
Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in HR, Finance, Business, or related field</li></ul><p>
