THE OPPORTUNITY
Staten Island Justice Center (SIJC) seeks to re-engineer the experience of criminal court in Staten Island, New York, by providing judges and attorneys meaningful alternatives to bail, fines, and jail sentences. Operating out of Richmond County Criminal Court along with community-based offices, SIJC is a team of social service providers, court-based resource coordinators, mental health practitioners, compliance specialists, and others who seek to improve the quality of justice. Supervised Release offers an alternative to jail by providing pretrial supervision, case management, and voluntary social services to people charged with misdemeanor and felony offenses, and in doing so, uses an arrest as a window of opportunity to change the direction of a participant&rsquo;s life, avoiding the harmful effects of incarceration. Program participants are monitored to ensure their appearance at court dates and mandatory programming, and receive referrals to services like job training, drug treatment, and mental health counseling.
SIJC seeks an Education and Employment Specialist for the borough&rsquo;s Supervised Release Program (SRP). Reporting to the Community Engagement Coordinator, the Education and Employment Specialist will assist participants who are interested in furthering their careers by helping them to identify and access educational and professional development opportunities. This position will leverage considerable knowledge of the public university system, certificate programs, state licensure requirements, resumes, cover letters, interview fundamentals, and expertise in understanding systemic barriers to career advancement for people involved in the criminal legal system to help participants create action plans aligned with their educational and employment goals. Additionally, Education and Employment Specialists will design and facilitate workshops in relevant topics and coordinate referrals to local service providers to maximize participant access to information and services.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:<ul><li>
Work with participants and their case managers to understand participants&rsquo; employment and educational needs and goals, including any relevant factors such as mental health, conviction history, and other special circumstances to best leverage supports offered by other relevant community-based service providers;</li><li>
Provide accurate, up-to-date information, guidance, and support to people interested in exploring career opportunities and options;<ul><li>
Provide guidance and support to participants seeking to prepare resumes, cover letters, and prepare for interviews in one-on-one and group formats;</li><li>
Provide information, guidance, and support to participants seeking information or applying for professional licensure, certification or undergraduate college programs;</li><li>
Assist participants in obtaining identification and vital documents needed to access higher education or complete job applications;</li></ul></li><li>
Develop and facilitate workshops for participants on strengthening resumes and cover letters, skill-building for completing interviews, overcoming barriers to employment due to conviction history, applying to college, conviction history-based college access myths, and other relevant topics;</li><li>
Develop and maintain relationships with local college access service providers, particularly those that focus on working with people with accessibility and mental health needs and that serve people with involvement in the criminal legal system;</li><li>
Develop and maintain relationships with local colleges to build knowledge about college access programs and to facilitate warm hand-offs;</li><li>
Provide referrals and facilitate warm handoffs to community-based agencies who can provide participants with individualized support to help them work towards their educational and career goals, such as Workforce 1, SUNY EOCs, College and Community Fellowship, Howie the Harp, and similar agencies;</li><li>
Facilitate information sessions for the direct practice teams to help build knowledge of opportunities and challenges related to accessing employment and education;</li><li>
Coordinate onsite workshops and presentations for partners to connect directly with direct practice staff and with participants at BJI sites;</li><li>
Work collaboratively with the case management team to effectively maintain accurate and timely data entry and case documentation aligned with the program model, court reporting obligations, and best practices;<ul><li>
Consistent case conference calls with participants&rsquo; Case Managers;</li><li>
Ensure that meetings with participants also fulfill the obligations of check-ins and are recorded in the program database;</li></ul></li><li>
Responsible for consistent and effective cross-team communication and collaboration to proactively identify successes, challenges, and opportunities to strengthen programming, create opportunities for meaningful collaboration, maximize internal and external resources and expertise, and substantive and comprehensive services to participants;</li><li>
Collect and maintain secure storage of hard copy and electronic documents containing sensitive participant information;</li><li>
Required to participate in designated trainings upon hire;</li><li>
Attend project events, community events, and meetings after hours, as needed;</li><li>

Qualifications:<ul><li>
High school diploma and at least 3-5 years of experience helping people to access employment and/or higher education required;</li><li>
Knowledge on how to navigate the individual, institutional, and systemic barriers presented by background checks strongly preferred;</li><li>
Comprehensive expertise related to accessing higher education opportunities required, including knowledge about how to overcome access challenges and awareness of access myths;</li><li>
Knowledge of the state&rsquo;s professional licensure system, particularly as it relates to conviction history, and familiarity with professional certification programs and their affordability preferred;</li><li>
Experience working as a college academic counselor or career counselor strongly preferred;</li><li>
Knowledge of CUNY and local college and universities academic and financial aid programs, policies, and admissions and enrollment processes strongly preferred;</li><li>

SIJC seeks Case Managers for the borough&rsquo;s Supervised Release Program (SRP). Reporting to Supervising Case Managers, Case Managers are the front line of service delivery and key to ensuring that the program meets its mandate. Specifically, Case Managers will supervise SRP participants according to their assigned tier and level; work with participants to identify and address barriers to compliance and court attendance; conduct outreach to participants, court stakeholders, community-based service providers, and collateral contacts; connect participants to appropriate services in the community to support their stabilization, and ensure accurate and timely court reporting on participants&rsquo; compliance with program requirements. Accurate and timely data entry is a core responsibility for this position. Additionally, Case Managers will co-facilitate pro-social and psycho-educational groups.

THE OPPORTUNITY
Launched in 1993, the award-winning Midtown Community Justice Center is one of the country&rsquo;s first problem-solving courts. It provides alternatives to fines and jail as a response to low-level crime. Seeking to reduce crime and incarceration, and increase public trust in justice, the Midtown Community Justice Center works with neighborhood stakeholders to improve Midtown Manhattan, and to serve the vibrant Midtown community, specifically those in need of services. The Justice Center&rsquo;s court responds creatively to low-level offending, seeking sentences that are restorative to the defendant and community. In 2023, Midtown Community Justice Center celebrated 30 years of operation and was renamed to Midtown Community Justice Center to reflect the work we do in the community. The work has continued to move upstream and beyond the walls of our physical space through expanded diversion initiatives, street outreach, and community engagement.
The Midtown Community Justice Center is seeking a Bilingual Social Worker for its court-based, community-based, and voluntary programs, which includes the Emerging Adult Court for 18-25-year-olds, Misdemeanor Mental Health Court, Community Court, and referrals from downtown Manhattan Center site, Manhattan Justice Opportunities. The Bilingual Social Worker will be responsible for conducting assessments and intakes, making referrals to community-based service providers, offering comprehensive trauma-informed individual counseling and case management sessions, and facilitating psychoeducational groups.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:<ul><li>
Conduct individual counseling sessions, psychoeducational and therapeutic groups, and clinical assessments;</li><li>
Provide recommendations for services and monitor treatment for court-mandated clients;</li><li>
Provide comprehensive, trauma-informed, culturally-responsive, clinical and case management services to clients (and, where appropriate, their families) that address issues such as substance use, mental health issues, trauma, interpersonal violence, housing, and educational and vocational needs;</li><li>

THE OPPORTUNITY

Midtown Community Justice is seeking a Bilingual Case Manager for the Intake team. Reporting to the Coordinator of Court Operations, the Case Manager will be responsible for coordinating new referrals, conducting intakes and screenings, reengaging former and existing participants to complete mandated services, orienting new participants to the Midtown Community Justice Center, and scheduling participants for services. The Case Manager will also be responsible for providing one-on-one case management support to participants in need of services. Once a participant is enrolled in programming, the Case Manager will provide regular written updates and compliance reports to the court, including to the judge, clerks, defense attorneys, and prosecutors.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:<ul><li>
Conduct comprehensive needs-based intakes and assessments for clients referred to Midtown Community Justice Center and from other Center project sites;</li><li>

THE OPPORTUNITY
The Center for Justice Innovation is seeking a Social Worker to join a team of staff&mdash;including social workers, case managers, and a peer navigator&mdash;who work with defendants participating in the Manhattan Felony Alternative to Incarceration (ATI) Court. The Felony ATI Court, which is led by Administrative Judge Ellen Biben, seeks to forge a new response to individuals charged with felonies by linking them to community-based social services. The Court is the first of its kind, providing an innovative model for other jurisdictions seeking to develop and implement meaningful post-conviction sentencing options for individuals facing felony charges.
Reporting to the Clinical Director of Felony ATI, the Social Worker will be part of a team that provides neutral, third-party assessments and case management services to the Felony Alternative to Incarceration (ATI) Court. The Social Worker will be responsible for conducting independent clinical assessments, providing referrals to community-based services, offering comprehensive clinical case management, and monitoring participant compliance.
An essential and dynamic feature of the Social Worker&rsquo;s role will be close collaboration with key stakeholders. The Social Worker will work regularly with the judge and court staff from New York Country Supreme Court who oversee the Felony ATI Court, as well as with other stakeholders, including the Manhattan District Attorney&rsquo;s Office and New York City defense organizations. Court-based social work is an exciting, unique and demanding area of practice, and the Social Worker role involves navigating and constructively engaging with differing and, at times, competing stakeholder perspectives.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:<ul><li>
Conduct detailed risk-need profiles and clinical assessments for potential Felony ATI Court participants;</li><li>
Develop treatment recommendations for services for potential Felony ATI participants to court stakeholders (judge, defense counsel, prosecutor and court staff);</li><li>

Make appropriate community-based referrals for a variety of social service needs;</li><li>
Manage and monitor compliance with treatment mandates, including care coordination with providers;</li><li>

Participate in regular interdisciplinary case conferences with court stakeholders;</li><li>

THE OPPORTUNITY
Staten Island Justice Center (SIJC) seeks to re-engineer the experience of criminal court in Staten Island, New York, by providing judges and attorneys meaningful alternatives to bail, fines, and jail sentences. Operating out of Richmond County Criminal Court along with community-based offices, SIJC is a team of social service providers, court-based resource coordinators, mental health practitioners, compliance specialists, and others who seek to improve the quality of justice. Supervised Release offers an alternative to jail by providing pretrial supervision, case management, and voluntary social services to people charged with misdemeanor and felony offenses, and in doing so, uses an arrest as a window of opportunity to change the direction of a participant&rsquo;s life, avoiding the harmful effects of incarceration. Program participants are monitored to ensure their appearance at court dates and mandatory programming, and receive referrals to services like job training, drug treatment, and mental health counseling.
SIJC is seeking a Clinician, Supervised Release Program (SRP). Reporting to the Clinical Director, the Clinician, SRP will be licensed a social worker and mental health practitioner responsible for providing therapeutically-informed support to participants. This position will leverage exemplary clinical and interpersonal skills to provide clinical support to participants enrolled in the program. Specifically, the Clinician, SRP will facilitate CBT-informed sessions for all Tier 2 participants, provide short-term counseling for any participant identified as a strong candidate for mental health support, and external referrals to therapy, as appropriate. This position provides hours towards LCSW accreditation.
The Clinician, SRP will not carry a standard SRP caseload. Rather, they will work closely with the case management and specialty in-house referral teams to case conference about participants' strengths and needs and coordinate tailored support as appropriate. The Clinician, SRP will work with other SRP teams to ensure access to, completion of, and accurate data entry for CBT and other therapeutically-informed sessions to ensure these sessions count toward participants&rsquo; compliance status.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:<ul><li>
Responsible for facilitating CBT-informed sessions for all Tier 2 participants;</li><li>

The Staten Island Justice Center (SIJC or &quot;Justice Center&quot;) offers an array of programming for both youth and adults in Staten Island, focusing on engaging those with current or past justice involvement. The Justice Center seeks a Case Manager for its Transformative Reentry Initiatives program. The Justice Center&rsquo;s Transformative Reentry Initiative (TRI) will provide participants with wraparound services focused on restorative practices, employment/educational support, mentorship, and social-emotional support. Reporting to the Program Manager, the Case Manager will be responsible for working with program participants post-release to provide meaningful connections to sustainable community-based resources.

Engage in one-on-one relationships with participants and their families, including, but not limited to, scheduling and facilitating individual case management sessions;</li><li>
