THE OPPORTUNITY
The Staten Island Justice Center (SIJC)offers an array of programming for both youth and adults in Staten Island, focusing on engaging those with current or past justice involvement or at-risk of justice-involvement. SIJC operates diversion, alternative to detention and incarceration, supervised release, reentry, mental health and wellness, workforce development, peer-led restorative justice and leadership development programs. The Justice Center&rsquo;s youth justice initiatives provide judges, prosecutors, and defense attorneys with alternative community sentencing options that hold individuals accountable in a way that is meaningful, proportionate, and restorative. The goal is to provide participants with individual and group services that help them to avoid future contact with the justice system and promote swift case resolutions that bolster public confidence in justice.
SIJC is seeking a Youth Engagement Specialist who will support as a Mentor in working with youth justice initiatives participants ages 13 to 18. Reporting to the Youth Justice Initiatives Program Manager, the Youth Engagement Specialist will develop and oversee mentorship programming activities&mdash;including group workshops and individual mentorship sessions. These activities will take place virtually, on-site, and in the community. The Youth Engagement Specialist will work individually and with a team to assist participants in addressing the individual and societal factors that may impact their behavior.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:<ul><li>
Engage in one-on-one relationships with mentees and their families, including, but not limited to, scheduling and facilitating individual mentorship meetings in participant's homes and in the community several times per week and scheduling and participating in family events and outings;</li><li>
Facilitate group programming including, but not limited to, community engagement projects, group outings, weekly trauma informed group sessions, restorative justice circles, and workshops on topics related to positive youth development and skill-building, and leadership development;</li><li>
Carry out accurate and adequate case planning for mentees, including scheduling and participating in meetings related to mentees' well-being, as well as family team meetings, school meetings, meetings with external service providers, court appearances, and probation meetings, among others;</li><li>
Assist with monitoring youth compliance for mentees, including curfew monitoring, educational outreach, and weekly programming activities with probation, court mandates and disposition orders and maintain consistent communication with family and criminal court stakeholders such as lawyers, probation officers, and judges;</li><li>
Act as point person for participant&rsquo;s support system&mdash;such as family members, neighborhood supports, and school staff&mdash; as needed;</li><li>
Utilize online databases to track participant activities and outcomes;</li><li>
Operate company vehicle in the community for community outreach and immediate client engagement and drive participants to referred services when needed;</li><li>
Help with loading and replenishment of materials needed in the vehicle;</li><li>
Provide coverage and support for other SIJC youth programming as needed;</li><li>
Participate in SIJC all-staff meetings, committees, and staff development activities;</li><li>
Attend SIJC events or community meetings after hours or on weekends; and</li><li>
Perform other activities and duties, as assigned.</li></ul>
Qualifications: High school diploma with 2-5 years of experience working with youth from marginalized communities and/or youth who have been involved in the juvenile or criminal system, or equivalent lived experience in a related area, preferably as a criminal justice practitioner. A valid driver's license is required. Strong knowledge of community resources in the North Shore of Staten Island is a plus. For this role, candidate must be able to seek direction and advice when necessary and make independent decisions when possible. Good judgment, a trauma-informed approach, excellent communication, and organizational and multitasking abilities are a must for this role. The candidate should have a strong ability to balance participation in a collaborative work environment with independent work. Computer literacy and knowledge of the juvenile justice system preferred. Candidates must have the ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and be able to provide crisis management as needed. The candidate should be comfortable with technology and video platforms such as Zoom.
Position Type: Full-time, in-person position working 5 days per week. Candidate must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings, holidays and weekends.

Compensation: The compensation range for this position is $52,000 - $59,900 and is commensurate with experience.

 Launched in 1993, the award-winning Midtown Community Justice Center is one of the country&rsquo;s first problem-solving courts. It provides alternatives to fines and jail as a response to low-level crime. Seeking to reduce crime and incarceration, and increase public trust in justice, the Midtown Community Justice Center works with neighborhood stakeholders to improve Midtown Manhattan, and to serve the vibrant Midtown community, specifically those in need of services. The Justice Center&rsquo;s court responds creatively to low-level offending, seeking sentences that are restorative to the defendant and community. In addition, the Justice Center works upstream and outside the courtroom through diversion initiatives, street outreach, and community engagement.
 
 
 The Midtown Community Justice Center is seeking a Temporary Youth Engagement Specialist to lead the Justice Center&rsquo;s work with young people from Amsterdam Houses and the surrounding community. Reporting to the Community Partnerships Coordinator, the Youth Engagement Specialist will play a key role in both developing and overseeing youth programming at Amsterdam Houses and supporting the Justice Center&rsquo;s broader community engagement initiatives across the borough of Manhattan. By working with community stakeholders, local leaders, community-based organizations, and the young people themselves, the Youth Engagement Specialist will seek to understand quality of life and public safety challenges for the community then co-lead the Justice Center&rsquo;s programming built in response to those findings. This role will, among other things, provide tangible support and coaching to the program members, and will support residents, community partners and local city agency representatives through the process of identifying and solving issues that create vulnerabilities in community safety and well-being. The Youth Engagement Specialist will also be principally tasked with supporting the Justice Center&rsquo;s Youth Advisory Board. The Youth Advisory Board is comprised of a group of young people dedicated to providing feedback and helping inform the Center&rsquo;s programming to remain responsive to community trends.
 
 
 
 Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 Recruit and retain a diverse team of residents from across Amsterdam Houses and the local community to facilitate the implementation of resident-led community-building projects;

 Support the use of data to inform resident-led strategies that promote community safety;

 Facilitate resident and stakeholder planning meetings that support engagement, problem identification, problem-solving, practice and action steps, and memorialize plans in a centralized, digital platform;

THE OPPORTUNITY
The Queens Community Justice Center, launched in 2007, runs a diverse portfolio of programs for justice-involved youth, young adults and their families. Programming includes alternative-to-detention programs and leadership, clinical, mentorship, workforce development, gender responsive and family support initiatives. The Justice Center incorporates evidence-based methods for working with high-risk youth, including positive youth development and restorative justice principles, into its programming. Ultimately, the goal of the Justice Center is to provide off-ramps from the justice system, to help participants lead a more meaningful life, and to increase public safety.
The Queens Community Justice Center is seeking a Mentor, Arches Program. Reporting to the Program Coordinator, the mentor will be responsible for facilitating group mentoring and interactive journaling sessions for participants in the Department of Probation funded Arches program. Arches is a neighborhood-based transformative mentoring services program for young adults on probation between the ages of 16 and 24 who reside in or adjacent to Jamaica, Queens.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:<ul><li>
Facilitate Interactive Journaling sessions focused on skill development and goal setting;</li><li>
Provide one-on-one mentoring support to participants;</li><li>
Provide program participants with additional support in achieving Individual Achievement Plan goals as set by Department of Probation (DOP) probation officers;</li><li>
Work with the Program Coordinator in organizing and facilitating a mentor support group;</li><li>
Ensure thorough and accurate file-keeping and reporting on progress and compliance of participants;</li><li>

Qualifications: High school diploma (or higher) with at least 2 years of experience in youth development work and/or mentoring with court-involved populations. The mentor position requires a personable and creative self-starter who can accomplish tasks in a fast-paced environment. Candidates should be credible messengers, specially trained adults from Jamaica with backgrounds and characteristics similar to the population served, including life experience, cultural competence, and criminal justice system familiarity. Prior experience with positive youth development, motivational interviewing, and cognitive behavioral therapies preferred. Demonstrated ability to work in a culturally competent manner that is responsive to the needs of urban youth required. Proficiency in Microsoft and Google Suites, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom is preferred. Additionally, experience utilizing CRM or case management software is preferred. Individuals directly impacted by the criminal legal system are highly encouraged to apply for this position. THE OPPORTUNITY
Midtown Community Justice Center seeks a Community Navigator for the Community First program. The aim of Community First is to create an upstream diversion from arrest and justice system involvement by building supportive relationships with people in need of services and creating linkages to mental health services, housing support, substance use services, and other kinds of social services as needed. Community First is a partnership between Midtown Community Justice Center, Breaking Ground, Fountain House, Times Square Alliance, Housing Works, and Ryan Health.
Reporting to the Clinical Director, the Community Navigator will be tasked with engaging community members frequenting the Times Square and Midtown Manhattan area who are experiencing housing insecurity or homelessness and often have co-occurring behavioral health challenges. In keeping with the Community First model, the Navigator will build trusting relationships with those individuals, and facilitate linkages to social services and other community-based resources. The Community Navigator will also work with clients of MCJC&rsquo;s onsite programs, including court-based and diversion programs, who are unstably housed. Community Navigators are peers who share some lived experience with clients and use their own experience in establishing trusted relationships.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:<ul><li>
Perform community outreach in the Times Square area and broader Midtown community;</li><li>
Identify and build relationships with individuals who are experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity, substance use disorders, mental health crises, or in need of other supportive services in the Midtown area;</li><li>
Work with a diverse population in a mutually respectful manner, using a strengths-based and client-centered approach;</li><li>
Develop and maintain working knowledge of local resources for health and wellness as well as public benefits;</li><li>
Develop and maintain relationships with local businesses that can provide additional support (e.g., employment opportunities, access to bathrooms, access to free food and supplies);</li><li>
Provide clients with support and linkages to programs and opportunities in the community (e.g., benefits, job programs, health, housing, and treatment services);</li><li>
Provide mobile case management and accompany clients to appointments and external service providers;</li><li>
Provide peer support and case management to court-involved clients struggling with housing insecurity or other behavioral health challenges;</li><li>
Know how to properly administer Naloxone and train community members how to use harm reduction tools including Naloxone and drug test strips;</li><li>
Adhere to policies and procedures of the Community First program and Midtown Community Justice Center;</li><li>

Contribute to data collection, documenting case management efforts and adding to the monthly report due to stakeholders;</li><li>

Qualifications: A high school diploma and at least 2 years of relevant experience is required. Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA) or Recovery Coach certificate a plus. THE OPPORTUNITY 
The Center for Justice Innovation is seeking an Associate for its Community Justice Connect Storefront site in Crown Heights. Community Justice Connect, operated by the Center for Justice Innovation, is a network of storefront centers that train community volunteers to provide free legal information, assistance, and referrals to people with civil legal problems. The program seeks to solve issues in areas like housing, public benefits, employment, family law, and immigration before they become emergencies that must be litigated in court. Currently, Community Justice Connect operates in Brooklyn, Bronx and Queens. 
 
Reporting to the Site Manager, the Associate will help to oversee the volunteer recruitment, site administration, and outreach to community partners to build a strong network for reaching clients and providing services. The Associate must also help to create a warm and welcoming environment for volunteers and visitors to the site.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:<ul><li>
Help recruit volunteers to participate in the Community Justice Connect program at least every six months, and on as as-needed basis;</li><li>
Organize volunteer schedules and staffing;</li><li>
Provide assistance to the Managers as they supervise volunteers, offer information, and assist clients, including some evening and weekend hours;</li><li>
Participate in Housing Justice Initiatives and Working Group meetings and activities;</li><li>
Conduct outreach on an ongoing basis for new volunteers and clients;</li><li>
Attend local community board meetings and events held by local elected officials;</li><li>
Screen cases that are referred to attorneys for legal advice;</li><li>
Coordinate with Community Justice Connect team on organizing community clinics and workshops, and establishing policy and procedures for legal referrals;</li><li>
Support ongoing volunteer training and appreciation events;</li><li>
Provide for data collection, recording and reporting;</li><li>
Provide support to all Community Justice Connect offices as needed, including filling in and working from other sites as needed;</li><li>

THE OPPORTUNITY
The Staten Island Justice Center (SIJC; Justice Center) offers an array of programming for both youth and adults in Staten Island, focusing on engaging those with current or past justice involvement. The Justice Center&rsquo;s Alternatives to Incarceration programming provides judges, prosecutors, and defense attorneys with alternative community sentencing options that hold individuals accountable in a way that is meaningful, proportionate, and restorative. The goal is to provide participants with individual and group services that help them to avoid future contact with the justice system and promote swift case resolutions that bolster public confidence in justice.
Reporting to the Clinical Coordinator, the Case Manager will be responsible for the monitoring and case management of program participants, referring participants to voluntary social service interventions, and helping promote compliance with pre-plea and post-plea conditions. The Case Manager will stay in regular contact with participants, including facilitating in-person case management meetings. The Case Manager will also facilitate groups and assist in development of onsite services for participants. Additionally, the Case Manager will be in communication with attorneys&rsquo; offices, community-based providers, and draft memos to keep the court informed of participants&rsquo; compliance. The Case Manager will work closely with an interdisciplinary team providing adult case management services.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:<ul><li>
Provide comprehensive case management services to a caseload of short- and long-term mandated clients;</li><li>
Manage a caseload of over 40 ATI participants, ensuring consistent engagement and progress tracking;</li><li>
Coordinate and facilitate scheduling of community service appointments, providing ongoing support and guidance to participants mandated for community service requirements;</li><li>
Provide voluntary service referrals to individuals, to help address issues such as substance use, mental health, trauma, domestic violence, housing, and vocational needs;</li><li>
Coordinate with service providers to facilitate, follow-up, and assist participants with voluntary service referrals;</li><li>
Maintain appropriate client and group information in electronic databases and hard files;</li><li>
Connect with and maintain relationships with outside service providers to increase referral sources for clients;</li><li>
Monitor and report on compliance to court stakeholders and work with defense and district attorneys to bring program participants into compliance;</li><li>
Participate in individual and group supervision, department staff meetings, interdisciplinary meetings, and on and off-site trainings;</li><li>
Assist with administrative responsibilities, including data management, grant reporting and compliance monitoring;</li><li>
Assist with other Justice Center intakes and assessments, as needed;</li><li>
Attend Staten Island Justice Center's events after hours, as needed;</li><li>

Qualifications: Bachelor&rsquo;s degree or a minimum of 3-4 years of experience working in a social service setting. Experience working in a court or criminal justice setting strongly preferred.
