Central Garden &amp; Pet is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Packaging Production Designer &ndash; Contractor to support the execution, production, and maintenance of packaging assets across multiple brands and product categories. This role is responsible for preparing accurate, print-ready packaging files, ensuring brand consistency, managing revisions, and collaborating cross-functionally with marketing, brand, sourcing, regulatory, and external print vendors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES<ul><li>
Create, update, and maintain packaging production files for a wide range of products and formats, including cartons, labels, shrink sleeves, corrugate, displays, inserts, and manuals.</li><li>
Prepare accurate print-ready mechanicals and production artwork in compliance with vendor and printer specifications.</li><li>
Ensure packaging files meet brand standards, regulatory requirements, and production timelines.</li><li>
Manage version control, routing, revisions, and asset organization across multiple concurrent projects.</li><li>
Collaborate with Brand, Marketing, Regulatory, Product Development, and Sourcing teams to execute packaging updates and launches.</li><li>
Work closely with external agencies, printers, and suppliers to troubleshoot artwork and production issues.</li><li>
Review proofs and color separations to ensure accuracy prior to production.</li><li>
Support packaging optimization and process improvement initiatives.</li><li>
Maintain packaging archives, templates, dielines, and production documentation.</li><li>
Assist with image retouching, typography adjustments, and layout refinements as needed.</li><li>
Ensure all deliverables are completed accurately and on schedule.</li></ul> 
QUALIFICATIONS<ul><li>
Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.</li><li>
Strong understanding of print production, prepress processes, color management, and packaging specifications.</li><li>
Experience working with packaging dielines and print vendors.</li><li>
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.</li><li>
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.</li><li>

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE &amp; EDUCATION<ul><li>
3&ndash;5+ years of packaging production or production design experience.</li><li>
Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Graphic Design, Production Design, Packaging Design, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.</li><li>
Experience in consumer packaged goods (CPG), retail, pet, lawn &amp; garden, or consumer products industries.</li><li>
Familiarity with regulatory packaging requirements and barcode management.</li><li>
Knowledge of packaging materials and printing methods including flexographic, offset, digital, and gravure printing.</li><li>
Experience using project management or DAM systems.</li><li>

Packaging Production Designer - Contractor

<div>Description 
 
 
Central Garden &amp; Pet is building a modern cloud-based Enterprise Data Platform to support reporting, advanced analytics, and data-driven decision making across its brands and business units. The DevOps Platform Engineer will design, implement, and operate the data platform&mdash;with a primary focus on Databricks&mdash;and the CI/CD pipelines that support data ingestion, transformation, and analytics workloads. 
This role will own the Databricks platform experience (workspaces, clusters, permissions, jobs) and DevOps automation, partnering closely with data engineers, analytics engineers, and governance teams to ensure the platform is secure, scalable, reliable, and automated. 
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 
<ul><li>
Design and implement CI/CD pipelines for data pipelines (ingestion jobs) and transformation projects (e.g., dbt on Databricks, SQL, notebooks)</li><li>
Orchestrate Databricks jobs and workflows end-to-end (ingestion, transformation, quality checks)</li><li>
Integrate automated testing into CI/CD, including schema and contract checks for data models and tables</li><li>
Implement FinOps best practices to support cost monitoring and allocation across the EDP</li><li>
Automate platform operations for Databricks and related services, such as workspace and cluster provisioning, library and runtime mgmt. and job deployment/config</li><li>
Implement and maintain identity and access management for Databricks and supporting cloud resources, including workspace- and cluster-level permissions, table- and view-level access controls (e.g., Unity Catalog or equivalent), service principals, groups, and roles for automated workloads, and RBAC &amp; TBAC models in collaboration with EDP Architect</li><li>
Provide patterns, templates, and reusable modules (Terraform modules, Airflow DAG patterns, Databricks job templates) to accelerate onboarding of new projects</li><li>
Continuously evaluate and improve tooling, pipelines, and platform architecture to increase reliability, security, and developer productivity on Databricks</li><li>
Define the code promotion process to minimize impacts across domains as code is promoted to production</li><li>
Manage end-to-end orchestration using managed Airflow. Contribute to defining and tracking SLA/SLO/SLIs for the platform and participate in incident response (triage, root cause analysis)</li><li>
Practical knowledge of IT Infrastructure technologies, cloud computing Azure), cybersecurity, and disaster recovery.</li><li>
Working knowledge of Azure ecosystem, including hands-on experience designing, building, and optimizing scalable data pipelines within cloud-native environments.

QUALIFICATIONS 
<ul><li>
Hands-on experience with Databricks in production environment, including workspace and cluster management, jobs/workflows and integrations with orchestration tools</li><li>
Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or similar) and Git-based workflows.</li><li>
Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and orchestration tools for provisioning and managing Databricks and cloud infrastructure.</li><li>
Experience implementing automated tests and quality gates in CI/CD pipelines.</li><li>
Ability to partner effectively with data engineers, analytics engineers, architects, and security teams.</li></ul> 

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE &amp; EDUCATION 
<ul><li>
Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred, or equivalent work experience.</li><li>
4&ndash;7+ years in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, or Platform Engineering, with at least 2+ years supporting data/analytics platforms.</li><li>
Experience operating production data workloads, including monitoring, logging, performance tuning, and incident response.</li><li>
Scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) for automation and integration.</li><li>
Experience in CPG, retail, manufacturing, or distribution environments preferred.</li></ul> 

POSITION INFORMATION<ul><li>
This position pays $120,000-$150,000 per year based on experience and location.</li></ul>
