 JOB PURPOSE: The Early Head Start Teacher is responsible for all aspects of the care and education of enrolled children.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 
 
 
 
 Provides services to toddlers including physical caregiving, developmental assessments, and implementing age-appropriate curricula.
 
 
 
 
 </li>
 <li>
 
 
 
 
 Serves as the primary teacher for children and ensures safe and healthy learning environments and individualized learning activities for children.
 
 
 
 
 </li>
 <li>
 
 
 
 
 Individual may also be designated as a Center Assistant, assigned to classrooms as needed to provide continuity of care for required coverage during staff breaks, staff planning, and full-day operations.
 
 
 
 
 </li>
 <li>
 
 
 
 
 Other duties as assigned.
 
 
 
 
 </li>

 Works well independently and as part of a team.
 
 
 
 
 </li>

 Works well with individuals of all cultures and socio-economic backgrounds.
 
 
 
 
 </li>
 <li>
 
 
 
 
 Strong organizational skills, ability to monitor and prioritize workload and meet strict deadlines.
 
 
 
 
 </li>
 <li>
 
 
 
 
 Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
 
 
 
 
 </li>
 <li>
 
 
 
 
 Ability to regularly lift and carry toddlers who may range in weight up to 45 pounds.
 
 
 
 
 </li>
 <li>
 
 
 
 
 Ability to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, sit, and rise from the floor.
 
 
 
 
 </li>
 <li>
 
 
 
 
 Ability to reach with hands/arms and use hands to manipulate, handle, and feel objects.
 
 
 
 
 </li>
 <li>
 
 
 
 
 Background check/drug screen.
 
 
 
 
 </li>
 <li>
 
 
 
 
 Reliable transportation required.
 
 
 
 
 
 </li>
 </ul>
 
 
 
 
 SCHEDULE:
 
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 
 
 
 
 8-hour shift, Monday-Friday.
 
 
 
 
 
 </li>
 </ul>
 
 
 
 
 EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
 
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 
 
 
 
 Infant/Toddler Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or equivalent college coursework.
 
 
 
 
 </li>
 </ul>
