<div>The Library Specialist &ndash; Public Services Support is responsible for the daily maintenance and circulation of the Library&rsquo;s Technology Lending program. Provides daily support for Circulation, serves as main liaison for the library&rsquo;s delivery services to all branch campuses, and supports Reference services. Based on needs, is responsible for the library&rsquo;s open or closing business hours, including weekends and evenings.</div>

<div><div><b>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</b></div>
<div><div><b>Technology Lending &amp; Circulation Support</b></div><ul>
<li>Provides primary support and maintenance for the Library Technology Lending Program, in coordination with the Systems &amp; Discovery Librarian. Makes recommendations for purchases and provides daily troubleshooting for the circulating technology equipment.</li>
<li>Provides front desk customer service and backup support for Circulation.</li>
<li>Works closely with the Head of Access Services assisting in hiring, training, and overall oversight of Work Study and Irregular Wage library staff.</li>
<li>Processes additions to Course Reserves collection and communicates with faculty accordingly.</li>
<li>In collaboration with the Head of Library Access Services and the Instruction &amp; Outreach Librarian, provides support to our branch campuses in Redmond, Prineville, and Madras. This includes facilitation of delivery services to branch campuses and circulation support for branch campus staff.</li>
<li>Supports the maintenance and creation of community patron accounts using Banner and the library&rsquo;s Integrated Library System (ILS).</li>
<li>Creates patron fines reports and assists with fines processing.</li>
<li>Assists in shelving and collection maintenance projects, as needed.</li>
<li>Maintains confidentiality of all patron records and transactions.</li>
<li>Provides appropriate support in the absence of the Head of Library Access Services.</li>
<li>Provides backup support for Interlibrary Loan (ILL) in the absence of Library Specialist-Interlibrary Loan.</li>

</ul><div><b>Operational &amp; Reference Desk support</b></div><ul>
<li>Provides public services support during hours when there are few other library staff in the Barber Library. When needed, ensures that the library facility is ready for opening or closing following appropriate procedures and policies. Reports service needs and communicates with the Head of Library Access Services on issues related to building access and use.</li>
<li>Provides reference and research assistance at the circulation desk. Refers complex requests to appropriate librarian.</li>
<li>Assists patrons using the Library&rsquo;s workstations, which can include basic software questions (primarily Microsoft Office and other standard software). Supports basic troubleshooting for printing, scanning, microfilm use, wi-fi connectivity and other technology-related issues on the Library&rsquo;s workstations.</li>

<div><div>Work hours will include evening and weekend hours. While a regular schedule will be established, working hours will also include occasional planned exceptions (e.g., library event programming) and unplanned exceptions (e.g., covering when other staff call in sick).</div><div>
Work is performed in an office environment. Computer screen is used at least 80 percent of the time. Must be able to kneel and stoop less than five percent of the time. The employee is regularly required use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms and requires near visual acuity to write, read written materials and computer screens, and sufficient hearing and speech ability for ordinary telephonic conversations. Physical movements involve guiding, feeding materials into proper position. Lifting objects vary daily, ranging up to 20lbs. <div><div>The Instruction and Outreach librarian coordinates the instructional and reference/research services of the COCC Libraries. This faculty librarian is responsible for leading an active, multi-faceted library instruction program in a highly collaborative environment working closely with other library colleagues. The Instruction and Outreach Librarian works closely with other departmental faculty to integrate information literacy (IL) into the physical and virtual classrooms across all COCC campuses, including Redmond, Madras, and Prineville.<br>
</div><div>This position provides direction for the Library&rsquo;s reference and research service developing and assessing different approaches and initiatives to maintain and support its relevance for student success.<br>
</div><div>The Instruction and Outreach Librarian collaborates with colleagues to publicize and promote the library as the intellectual center of the campus community and works with colleagues to implement and further develop the Library&rsquo;s mission, vision, and strategic plan.</div></div>

<div><div><b>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</b></div>
<ul><li>In collaboration with library and other departmental faculty, is responsible for the planning, implementation, promotion and assessment of the Library&rsquo;s Information Literacy (IL) program;</li>
<li>Participate in all aspects of library instructional services, including teaching online, asynchronous credit courses as well as teaching one-shot instruction sessions, embedded librarian classes, and book-a librarian appointments on the main and branch campuses;</li>
<li>Collaborate with others as well as work individually to create course-specific resources, guides, and online tutorials for use in both traditional and virtual environments that meet student learning needs at all COCC campuses;</li>
<li>Support College Now courses and other K-12 initiatives that address information literacy;</li>
<li>Maintain current skills with library instruction techniques, technologies and information literacy theories. Stay involved in professional activities and advocate for Information Literacy at the state, regional and national level;</li>
<li>Provide leadership, plan, promote, and assess the library&rsquo;s reference/research assistance services to our students, faculty and other patron groups on all COCC campuses. Provide research assistance to students and faculty via the library&rsquo;s reference and research services;</li>
<li>Provide oversight and evaluation of the work of the Part-Time Instruction and Outreach Librarian on the Redmond campus;</li>
<li>Develop, implement, and assess reference/research and instructional library services to Bend, Redmond, Prineville, and Madras campuses;</li>
<li>Collaborate in the development of library marketing and outreach materials to promote library services at all COCC campuses, including the planning, implementation, and assessment of the Library&rsquo;s Outreach Plan;</li>

<li>Provide community service. As part of their responsibilities and criteria for promotion, COCC expects faculty to provide community service, including service both inside the college&rsquo;s district and beyond (including state and national service);</li>

<div><div><b>Ergonomic Requirements</b></div>
<div><div>Working hours are generally Monday through Friday between 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Additional hours or schedule changes may be required based on work requirements. Incumbent must be able to function effectively indoors in an office environment engaged in work of primarily a sedentary nature. Requires the ability to sit or stand at workstation for extended periods. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers; reach with hands and arms. Requires near visual acuity to write, read written materials and computer screens, and sufficient hearing and speech ability for ordinary telephonic conversations.</div><div>
