<div>The role of the medical assistant is to assist providers in implementing patient care and provide patient-centered and culturally competent care at Central Outreach Wellness Center.
Duties and Responsibilities:<ul><li>
Chart short description of each visit for Provider, or MA visit.</li><li>
Obtain Vitals including height, weight, BP, pain level, pulse, and respiratory rate.</li><li>
Obtain Labs as ordered, and properly label samples with first initial, last name and birthdate as confirmed with patient.</li><li>
Collect samples including urine, throat swab, and rectal swab as ordered.</li><li>
Properly log patient information into EKG, and perform EKG successfully.</li><li>
Administer and properly chart for vaccines under the guidance of providers, and bill for patient vaccines in EMR system properly.</li><li>
Properly chart any given medications in the chief complaint with proper dosage, concentration, administration route and site.</li><li>
Assist providers with any medical task as requested.</li><li>
Disinfect exam rooms between patient visits.</li><li>
Stock all bathrooms and exam rooms with gloves, appointment slips, etc.</li><li>
Properly dispose of sharps and bio-hazardous materials, maintain safe environment.</li><li>
Answering phones and routing the caller to where they need to go.</li><li>
Additional responsibilities as assigned.</li></ul>
Requirements:<ul><li>
Culturally competent while working, including being gender sensitive and pronoun aware.</li><li>
Be able to work with a team of medical assistants, providers, and administrative staff.</li><li>
Knowledge of basic computer skills, Excel, Word and how to use Electronic Medical Records.</li><li>
Experience with patient centered care.</li><li>
Punctuality and impeccable attendance.</li><li>
Strong communication skills with both professionals and patients from all demographics.</li><li>
Non-judgmental approach to patient care.</li><li>
Technical skills with required office equipment.</li><li>
Patience and great attention to detail.</li><li>
Completely understand the healthcare privacy laws as outlined in HIPAA.</li><li>
LGBTQIA cultural competency.</li><li>
Ability to work collaboratively in team-based care.</li><li>
Ability to adapt to a work environment that is constantly changing and not always structured.</li><li>
Ability to work in a fast paced and, at times, excited atmosphere.</li><li>
Maintain a professional attitude and demeanor.</li><li>
