Position Description:
Shkaabe Makwa and the Institute for Mental Health Policy Research (IMHPR) at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) are seeking a Research Associate 3 for a part-time, contract (12 months) position. Reporting to the Manager for the First Nations Wellness Initiative, Shkaabe Makwa. The Research Associate 3 will support a research project funded by the Canadian Institutes for Health Research entitled, the First Nations Wellness Initiative.
The Research Associate 3 will assist with coordinating various stages of research using Indigenous research methodologies including the gathering of data and knowledge translation activities. More specifically, the Research Associate 3 will be responsible for coordinating and attending meetings of the Community Advisory Circles for participating communities; supporting community engagement; recruiting participants in various stages of research including, focus groups, one-to-one interviews and Participatory Action Research (PAR); organizing and carrying out required tasks in the community and data gathering activities, including facilitating PAR workshops/focus groups, conducting qualitative interviews, obtaining informed consent from participating community members; ensuring culturally safe and ethical processes associated with the storage of data are being adhered to; compiling and organizing large volumes of information; conducting qualitative data analyses; preparing visual graphics; assisting with the development of community reports and other knowledge mobilization products; connecting with the larger research team on a regular basis; and any other duties associated with the research, as determined throughout the duration of the project. Duties include preparing research study protocols and Research Ethics Board (REB) submissions to ensure that all study activities are monitored and comply institutional requirements. The Research Associate 3 will also prepare data for presentations and assist with knowledge translation initiatives. Knowledge of Indigenous data governance and research ethics, principles and protocols contained in the First Nations principles of ownership, control, access and possession OCAP&reg;; the National Inuit Strategy on Research; and Principles of Ethical M&eacute;tis Research Canada are required. The individual will make it their priority that all research conducted is culturally sensitive and acknowledges and addresses the impacts of colonization, historical loss, historical trauma, historical unresolved grief, and the intergenerational transmission of loss and trauma. Adherence to strict CAMH protocols for the protection of data privacy and confidentiality is required.

This is a part-time, contract (12-months) position. This position may have varying hours. This position is located outside of the GTA and will require travel within Ontario throughout the project. 
Job Requirements
The successful candidate will have a Master&rsquo;s degree in health or social sciences or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. The candidate will have demonstrated knowledge and/or experience working in relational research with First Nations. Knowledge related to mental health, substance use, addictions, or trauma is considered an asset as well as experience interacting with individuals in research, academic, and/or service agency setting. The successful candidate will have demonstrated research and project coordination experience and knowledge of community-based participatory action Indigenous research design and methods, trauma informed practice experience, and experience with data collection techniques and ability to manage data. The individual must have strong interviewing and discussion group facilitation skills. Candidate must possess strong interpersonal as well as organizational skills and be extremely detail-oriented. The successful candidate will have exceptional organizational and research planning skills, with experience using Microsoft Office programs, including Excel, Word, and technology needed to support hybrid/virtual working environments. Experience conducting qualitative analyses using qualitative analysis software (e.g., NVIVO) is required. The position requires strong communication and collaboration to achieve project deliverables. Candidate must be conscientious, reliable, mature, enthusiastic, and motivated. This position requires the ability to work both independently and collaboratively while closely following detailed instructions. Candidate must be able to work effectively in a wide range of settings with individuals from diverse backgrounds. The successful candidate will be required to attend a two and one-half day CAMH orientation session. Reliable transportation is required throughout the term of the contract. Bilingualism in French/English or an Indigenous language would be an asset. Preference will be given to candidates who self-identify as First Nations Inuit or Metis.

The newly established pan-Canadian Integrated Youth Services Collaboration Centre (IYS-CC) aims to support development, implementation and evaluation of Integrated Youth Services (IYS) best practices, quality services, and engaged research across Canada. Position Description:
The pan-Canadian Integrated Youth Services Collaboration Centre (IYS-CC) hosted by CAMH is recruiting a full-time, contract (2 years) Equity Integration Specialist. This position will report to the IYS-CC Program Manager. The Equity Integration Specialist role is fully remote, and the successful candidate can be located anywhere in Canada. The Equity Integration Specialist will play a key role in supporting deliverables of the IYS-CC and integration of equity, human rights, and social justice principles within implementation, measurement, research, and data utilization. The Equity Integration Specialist will work with and support IYS networks throughout Canada to partner effectively with diverse youth and service providers who serve youth facing marginalization (e.g., Black and other racialized youth, 2SLGBTQ+ youth, youth with disabilities, youth experiencing poverty, newcomer youth). The Equity Integration Specialist will work closely with the Indigenous Partnership Specialist, as well as a diverse team of Implementation Specialists, Evaluator, and IYS stakeholders, including youth, family members, service providers, researchers, health equity specialists, and other IYS leaders, partners and advisors.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively across teams and networks to bring specific capacities and expertise in equity, decolonizing practices, anti-oppressive and anti-racist practice to the IYS areas of engagement, practice, training, implementation, evaluation, and research. Demonstrated knowledge of First Nations, Inuit and M&eacute;tis communities, cultures, perspectives and health service providers is required. Demonstrated capacity for effective change management, partner engagement and coaching are also required. The successful candidate will have a strong background in decolonizing, anti-oppressive and anti-racist practice, excellent knowledge of equity frameworks and tools, and significant experience supporting others to identify, prioritize, and develop actions that advance meaningful and sustained change for equitable outcomes.
Responsibilities will include:<ul><li>
Applying and integrating diverse approaches to system change such as Implementation Science, Quality Improvement and service/system design to support system partners to adopt new practices;</li><li>
Engaging and fostering collaborative relationships with youth, family members, and diverse partners to develop a shared understanding and vision;</li><li>
Working within strong partnerships and reciprocal relationships to examine systemic barriers, identifying with partners how health inequities are perpetuated, and develop plans and initiatives to promote health equity, equity knowledge/ literacy, and realize positive outcomes for marginalized youth;</li><li>
Providing expertise, training, applicable advice, tools, and capacity building related to principles and practices of decolonization, anti-oppression and anti-racist services within IYS context;</li><li>
Working within IYS-CC and in collaboration with IYS network partners to embed decolonizing practices, equity, anti-racism, and anti-oppression lenses to strengthen internal practices and policies, as well as outward facing communications, and activities;</li><li>
Developing an understanding of the diverse communities, cultures, perspectives and health services across the IYS networks, in order to provide contextualized supports;</li><li>
Connecting with youth, family, and Indigenous advisory groups to amplify voices, support youth-led initiatives, address advisor identified systemic barriers, and foster open communication among network partners;</li><li>
Developing an understanding of the local mental health and substance use systems in order to provide contextualized equity-focused supports;</li><li>
Understanding and reviewing trends and monitoring evaluation data to identify gaps and opportunities to strengthen equity-based initiatives, policies, and implementation activities for continuous improvement of equitable outcomes as part of a learning health system;</li><li>
Assisting partners (internal and external) with building equity capacity through facilitation, coaching, problem solving, focused sessions, consensus building, decision making and conflict resolution;</li><li>
Developing support processes, resources, fact sheets, frameworks, presentations, trainings, and tools based on Equity and Integration, and Implementation science knowledge and best practices for transformational systems change;
</li><li>Building connections and supporting the capacity of individuals, organizations/agencies to address structural inequities in youth health care, mental health and substance use services.</li></ul>
Job Requirements
The successful candidate will possess a Master&rsquo;s degree in a relevant field of study (e.g., Indigenous studies, global studies, gender studies, social justice or a related equity, health, or social service discipline) or equivalent experience (required). Successful candidate will have at least three (3) years&rsquo; experience in the field of youth health promotion/ prevention, community health and/or mental health, and substance use services or other related health services.<ul><li>
Expertise in health or mental health program planning and implementation with a variety of organizations/agencies, with experience in the Indigenous health and/or mental health and/or substance use sector.</li><li>
Thorough understanding of principles and practices of Indigenous engagement, Indigenous rights to sovereignty, and Indigenous methodologies in practice, research, and evaluation, are required.</li><li>
Thorough understanding and recognition of the impacts on positions of power and privilege; Demonstrated commitment to principles of equity, inclusivity, respect and social justice.</li><li>
Demonstrated ability to work in collaboration with diverse partners across Canada.</li><li>
Ability to collaborate with youth and family members experiencing health inequities; ability to elucidate valid and different forms of knowledge and evidence in respectful, safe and empowering ways.</li><li>
Experience applying and integrating diverse approaches to change such as Implementation Science, including Indigenous Knowledge frameworks, Quality Improvement and Services/ System Design to support partners in adopting and sustaining innovative/ best practices.</li><li>
Demonstrated ability to provide guidance and leadership to collaborative partnerships and experience facilitating or contributing to program planning.</li><li>
Demonstrated ability to coach partners and colleagues using strength-based problem solving, active listening, motivational interviewing, modeling and other coaching strategies.</li><li>
Knowledge of limitations of western/conventional measurement and data governance and knowledge of culturally-appropriate measurement and data governance and approaches, including OCAP&reg;, EGAP and others</li><li>
Experience in assisting organizations/agencies with system change initiatives through facilitation, problem solving, decision-making and conflict resolution.</li><li>
Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills, with the ability to multi-task, produce and coordinate projects to tight deadlines.</li><li>
Expertise in decolonizing approaches to health care delivery as well as health equity and a proven track record of engaging others in open, meaningful and productive dialogue about colonization and reconciliation, equity, racism, and oppression.</li><li>
Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work on a team, as well as function independently with minimal supervision.</li><li>
Demonstrated ability and commitment to supporting the engagement of young people and family members with lived experience in planning and implementation activities, preferably within a mental health/substance use context.</li><li>
Demonstrated strong interpersonal, communication (oral/written), community engagement, and creative problem-solving abilities.</li></ul>

Position Description
Shkaabe Makwa and the Institute for Mental Health Policy Research (IMHPR) at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is seeking a part-time contract (12 months), Research Associate 1. This individual will support a research project funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the First Nations Wellness Initiative, which involves the collection of local data and the development of community wellness strategies using participatory action research in First Nations communities. The research program actively engages all members of the community, including consumers/patients, families and informal caregivers, service providers and community leaders and Elders. The Research Associate 1 will support the work collaboratively as part of a team of researchers to implement community-based research, involving both quantitative and qualitative research methods.
This position is specific to Saugeen First Nation, where the Research Associate 1 will report to the Manager of the First Nations Wellness Initiative and work closely with the local Research Coordinator in support of the community meetings and administrative tasks, such as, processing honorarium, scheduling meeting venues, attending team meetings as needed, and areas related to technology. The Research Associate 1 will support various research activities alongside the Research Coordinator in all areas of the youth led Participatory Action Research in Saugeen First Nation, which will include recruiting and screening eligible study participants, obtaining informed consent, scheduling appointments, conducting interviews, and completing other research duties as required. Adherence to strict protocols for the protection of data privacy and confidentiality is required. As a member of the research team, the Research Associate 1 will join and support a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork, and complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements. This position is located offsite and may involve travel within Ontario.

Job Requirements
This position requires the incumbent to be First Nations, Inuit or M&eacute;tis. The successful candidate will have 3 years of community college and or equivalent experience. Candidate must have at least 1 year of relevant experience involving mental wellness in Indigenous communities, experience in research is an asset. The candidate must be familiar with principles of research and engagement with First Nations, Inuit, and M&eacute;tis populations. The individual will have excellent communication (verbal/written) and organizational skills. Candidates must be conscientious, reliable, mature, enthusiastic, and motivated. This position requires the ability to work both independently and collaboratively while closely following detailed instructions. Candidates require the ability to work effectively in a wide range of settings with individuals from diverse backgrounds. The successful candidate will be able to work independently and possess the capacity for self-directed learning but will also excel in a team environment.
