Campus Location: 616 Denbigh Blvd, Newport News, VA 23608

Compensation: Up to $29/hour

Schedule: Monday - Thursday: 8:00am - 2:30pm and 4:30pm - 10:30pm 


Purpose: This position is responsible for providing subject matter instruction to students in a classroom or lab setting. This position is required to teach assigned classes as scheduled or as assigned, and perform administrative functions related to teaching.

</ul>
Job Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Teach classes on a regularly scheduled basis as assigned and create a welcoming 
environment for students that is conducive to learning.</li>
<li>Assist Program Coordinator, Campus Director of Education, or Campus Executive Director in developing curriculum, preparing course materials, class scheduling, and maintaining tools and equipment used by students.</li>
<li>Maintain a neat and orderly classroom or lab.</li>
<li>Establish and maintain academic and attendance records for student files.</li>
<li>Submit attendance, grades, student evaluations, and all other reports/documentation to</li>
<li>Supervisor or appropriate personnel as required by established procedures.</li>
<li>Notify Supervisor of any current or potential issues which warrant immediate attention.</li>
<li>Utilize proven retention techniques approved by the school to assist students.</li>
<li>Complete performance-based teacher education modules as assigned by Supervisor, based on outcomes of classroom observations, instructor evaluations, and student completed surveys.</li>
<li>Attend and/or conduct in-service training, faculty meetings or other mandatory meetings.</li>
<li>Assist with the department equipment and supplies inventory and submit replenishment requests to Supervisor or appropriate personnel.</li>
<li>Alert Supervisor to student absences, especially on first, third and fifth absence occurrences.</li>
<li>Perform and complete other tasks that may be assigned by the Supervisor.</li>
</ul>
Required Qualifications:
<ul><li>High School diploma or GED.</li>
<li>OSHA 10-hour safety certification within 6 months of hire date.</li>
<li>Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) refrigerant certification within 6 months of hire date.</li>
<li>Must demonstrate up-to-date knowledge and continue study of the subject matter.</li>
<li>Must have a minimum of 3 years related practical work experience in the subject matter.</li>
<li>Ability to work in a fast-paced, performance-driven, compliance-oriented educational 
environment.</li>
<li>Detail-oriented, analytical, highly organized, and have the ability to multi-task and work well under pressure.</li>
<li>Demonstrate a high level of integrity, strong work ethic, and professionalism.</li>
<li>Persuasive and effective verbal and written communication skills, with a strong focus on customer service in an educational setting.</li>
<li>Highly motivated and goal-oriented, with strong problem-solving skills.</li>
<li>Must be able to work independently and as collaborative team member and have exceptional interpersonal skills.</li>
<li>Excellent computer skills are required with proficiency in MS Office applications including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams</li>
<li>Exhibits a positive, team-oriented attitude by remaining flexible and available to work outside of scheduled hours when needed, as directed by the Supervisor.</li>
</ul>
Preferred Qualifications:
<ul><li>A2L refrigerant/equipment knowledge</li>
<li>Previous classroom/laboratory experience preferred.</li>
<li>North American Technician Excellence certification</li>
</ul>
