Summary
Responsible for designing fire protection systems for industrial, commercial and residential applications, completing project designs and submittals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.<ul><li>
Design fire protection sprinkler systems, including fire pumps, tanks, wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge systems, with accuracy and detail to enable field installation with few design errors.</li><li>
Submit design plans to proper department leadership for approval and obtain permits as required.</li><li>
Calculate figures to convert design dimensions to resizing dimensions specified for subsequent production.</li><li>
Design fire protection sprinkler systems within allocated hours for each job.</li><li>
Review work order and procedural manuals to determine critical dimensions of design.</li><li>
Prepare submittal packages and subsequent correspondence to achieve design approval.</li><li>
Prepare fabrication lists for pipe fabrication vendor and requisition materials for job.</li><li>
Perform field surveys to ensure design is appropriate for structure.</li><li>
Assist field personnel with design related installation issues.</li><li>
Prepare and submit final job close-out documents after final acceptance testing.</li></ul>
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. NICET Certification a plus.
Computer Skills
SprinkCad preferred, AutoCad, or HydroCAD, Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
