<div>POSITION SUMMARY
The Corrections Medical OBGYN Physician will primarily be responsible for being the lead physician at one of our correctional institutions, with duties such as managing and evaluating the medical program activities based on the company goals, objectives, and philosophy according to industry standards and contractual obligations. The Medical Physician will also function as liaison between correctional officials, public agencies, and the company as part of this role. The Medical Physician collaborates with the Health Services Administrator to ensure effective inmate patient care delivery and achievement of desired patient outcomes, while maintaining the established guidelines.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education<ul><li>
Completion from an accredited medical school facility with a degree of Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).</li><li>
Completion of a US based residency program.</li><li>
Current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state the facility is located (maintain a current copy of license on file at the facility at all times).</li><li>
Must have an unrestricted and valid prescriptive authority with Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS).</li></ul>
Minimum Work Experience<ul><li>
At least two years of public health experience.</li><li>
Previous correctional health care environment preferred.</li></ul>

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES<ul><li>
Performs and documents routine physical examinations on inmate patients referred by the nursing/professional staff of the assigned correctional facility consistent with the National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) standards of care, NJ 10-A, American Correctional Association (ACA) and Performance Based National Detention Standards (PBNDS) as appropriate.</li><li>
Supervises the Medical Unit in facilitating health care in the detention facility.</li><li>
Provides treatment and orders studies, tests and ancillary services required consistent with the provision of basic health care services.</li><li>
Conducts sick call by evaluating patient condition, determining restrictions of patient activities based on findings, and excusing patients from work or other activities or recommending limitations on activities.
</li><li>Administers treatments and prescribes medications and other treatments to treat illnesses and health problems as allowed by state regulations and under the guidelines of the approved CFG formulary.</li><li>
Records all care information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms.</li><li>
Promotes a therapeutic environment to ensure inmates are treated in a professional, ethical and tactful manner.</li><li>
Supervises the development of and application of policies, procedures, and protocols in the care of detainees / inmates.</li><li>
Designate the level of care to be performed and the necessary equipment needed.</li></ul>

Provides emergency treatment of the teeth and surrounding soft tissues such as: oral surgery, restorative dentistry and periodontal therapy, within the scope of general dentistry.</li><li>
Makes proper referrals for treatments or procedures which cannot be performed at the institution or are beyond the technical proficiency of his/her practice.</li><li>
Ensures the daily logbook describing each patient visit is maintained according to established procedure.</li><li>
In cooperation with the Site Medical Director, provides professional consultation to all members of the Health Services team relative to inmates&rsquo; health care management.</li><li>
Provides services in accordance with the Centers for Disease Control infection guidelines, federal, state and local laws and the Quality Assurance Program standards.</li><li>
In conjunction with the Site Medical Director, prescribes medications under the guidelines of the approved CFG formulary.</li><li>
Adheres to all universal precautions and infection control policies and protocols at all times.</li><li>
Participates in the development of in-programs and maintains public relations with other health disciplines within the institution.
</li><li>Responsible and accountable for dental office security including instrument, medicine and needle counts in accordance with local and state regulations.
