JOB SUMMARY:
The Director-SMC is a vital member of the manufacturing operational plant team and reports to the General Manager. The Director-SMC is accountable for leading a team in delivering finished goods and components to our internal and external customers on time. This includes managing production schedules, reporting, training, positioning subordinates for maximum productivity, processing employee performance reviews, maintaining excellent housekeeping practices, and ensuring that all company policies and safety rules are followed by all. Manage all plans &amp; projects within budget and scheduled timeline.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
<ul><li>Directs the department to ensure on-time production and delivery to the finished goods production plan in vertically integrated operations while meeting internal customer-supplied component demands.</li><li>
Supervises and coordinates daily activities of personnel engaged in the manufacturing of parts and components in accordance with specifications, and quality standards.</li><li>
Fosters professional growth and development of all personnel and promotes group unity, efficiency, and effectiveness by providing technical training and support.</li><li>
Responsible for all training within the department, to include:<ul><li><ul><li>
New employee training (onboarding)</li><li>
Bill of materials, specification sheet and quality training for all employees</li><li>
All other training required for the department to function properly</li></ul></li></ul></li><li>
Reviews the production schedule and verifies specifications and requirements to determine the process, materials, machines, tooling requirements, and operations sequencing.</li><li>
Learn and understand the current standard operating procedures in place, evaluate their strengths and weaknesses, and continuously develop/modify standard operating procedures for increased efficiencies in manufacturing practices.</li><li>
Formulates recommendations to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality, as well as improve working conditions, the workforce, and overall operational efficiency and effectiveness.</li><li>
Evaluate capacity/forecast for infrastructure planning.</li><li>
This role leads the SMC organization to improve the production process, product quality, cost outcomes, and culture.</li><li>
Conducts in-process inspections and verified finished parts to determine continuous piece and process quality conformance.</li><li>
Develop a performance-driven culture by implementing continuous improvement principles in manufacturing. Responsibilities will include assisting with:<ul><li><ul><li>
On-time delivery of quality products.
</li><li>Pace of work and productivity, on-time clocking, reporting to workstation, lunch/break clocking, and break coverage</li><li>
Uniform compliance and PPE compliance</li><li>
Attendance verification</li></ul></li></ul></li><li>
Responsible for vacation planning and policy adherence.</li><li>
Confer that 5s standards and good housekeeping are being met with the highest standards.</li></ul>

ABILITY TO/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:<ul><li>
Must understand and follow all departmental safety rules.</li><li>

ISO sections about the position.</li></ul>
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
<ul><li>Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred.</li><li>
Strong work and business ethics.</li><li>
Minimum five years&rsquo; experience managing in a manufacturing environment.</li><li>
Proven track record working in an aggressive business environment, delivering projects on time and within budget.</li><li>
Outstanding organizational and leadership skills.</li><li>
Knowledge in plastics, polymer, compression molding, thermoset preferred.
</li><li>Must have strong decision-making skills supported by data collection, analysis, and statistical process control expertise.
</li><li>Proficient in CAD software (SolidWorks or ProE) and Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Power Point)</li><li>
Demonstrated experience using hands-on approach to learning, production support, and teamwork.</li><li>
Superior time management skills, ability to successfully manage multiple projects and priorities.</li><li>
Excellent verbal and written communication skills</li><li>
Ability to train and mentor.</li><li>
Experience with Oracle preferred
