 About the Role:
 
 
 
 Chargebee is looking for a Senior Legal Associate who thrives in a high-volume, fast-paced, high-performing, and collaborative environment. You will work collaboratively with Legal, Finance, Operations, Sales, IT, and Customer Success to resolve contract-related issues. You have a strong work ethic and flexibility and are comfortable working with a high degree of autonomy and ambiguity. You are a pro-active legal professional with a penchant for helping to build a business and have a strong bias for action. You feel comfortable working in a fast paced international and multi-cultural environment and enjoy working across multiple internal company disciplines. You are curious about complex technology and strive to be a highly visible key component in a rapidly expanding business that deals with some of the largest enterprises in the world.
 
 
 
 
 
 Reporting to the Associate General Counsel, the Senior Legal Associate will be responsible for the following:
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Conducting an in-depth review of contracts and related documents so that contractual terms and conditions comply with standard or approved business practices, corporate legal, finance and risk management requirements.
 </li>
 <li>
 Ensuring that contracts align with company policies, legal requirements, and industry regulations.
 </li>
 <li>
 Collaborating cross-functionally to clarify contract terms and resolve any issues.
 </li>
 <li>
 Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various commercial agreements, including customer agreements, vendor contracts, license agreements, and partnership agreements.
 </li>
 <li>
 Partnering internally to streamline agreement review and processing and providing regular detailed status reports to internal departments.
 </li>
 <li>
 Conducing risk assessments to evaluate the potential impact of contract terms and propose strategies for risk mitigation.
 </li>
 <li>
 Helping to maintain and update our standard agreements, agreement playbooks, and internal documentation &amp; training materials on our contract process.
 </li>
 </ul>
 
 
 
 
 
 Qualifications:
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Minimum of 5 post-qualification experience practicing commercial law in a reputable law firm or in-house with a global enterprise technology company.
 </li>
 <li>
 Law degree from a nationally accredited law school and license to practice law or as in-house legal counsel in the jurisdiction where you are based.
 </li>
 <li>
 Extensive experience with outbound SaaS transactions, inbound vendor, channel partner, MSP, and supplier agreements, involving data protection, security, and cloud technology.
 </li>
 <li>
 Experience with privacy, data protection, and security in SaaS, including knowledge of evolving regulations and compliance frameworks.
 </li>
 <li>
 Demonstrated ability to deliver results and drive alignment on complex, cross-functional projects involving various stakeholders.
 </li>
 <li>
 Availability to work and support end of quarter business requirements.
 </li>
 <li>
 Fluency in written and spoken English.
 </li>
 <li>
 Ability to successfully work independently but also able to use good judgment and escalate issues when needed.
 </li>
 <li>
 Sound time management skills with the ability to effectively prioritise work.
 </li>

Senior Legal Associate

 We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive product counsel to join our Legal team, who would work closely with the Product team. This role is crucial in ensuring that our products meet all applicable legal, regulatory, and industry standards. The ideal candidate will also work closely with cross-functional teams, including product development, marketing, and quality assurance, to identify compliance requirements and implement effective strategies.

 Key Responsibilities

 Research and Analysis:
 
 Research and analyze applicability of various laws, regulations and standards to Chargebee products.

 <li>
 
 Compliance Monitoring:
 
 Continuously monitor and analyze relevant laws, regulations and standards to stay on top of the requirements.

 <li>
 
 Gap assessments and audits:
 
 Conduct gap assessments and audits to identify gaps/potential compliance issues and recommend measures to close the gaps/ develop mitigation strategies.
 </li>
 <li>
 
 Documentation:
 
 Prepare, review, and maintain comprehensive documentation relating to product compliance.
 </li>
 <li>
 
 Training and Guidance:
 
 Provide training and guidance to internal teams on compliance requirements and best practices.

 Liaison:
 
 Liaise with law firms, third party vendors and regulators relating to product compliance matters.

 Policy Development:
 
 Assist in the development and implementation of compliance policies and procedures, primarily relating to product compliance.

 Issue Resolution and Queries:
 
 Investigate and resolve compliance-related issues, ensuring timely and effective solutions; respond to queries from internal and external stakeholders relating to product compliance.

 Reporting:
 
 Provide status updates to management and relevant internal stakeholders.
 </li>
 <li>
 
 Advice on strategic decisions:
 
 Advice Product/business teams on product compliance when expanding to new geographies, introduction of new products etc

 Communication:
 
 Communicate complex legal and regulatory concepts clearly to internal product and engineering teams, ensuring alignment between legal requirements and technical implementation. Serve as a legal point of contact for Chargebee customers on matters relating to product compliance, in relation to contracts and otherwise.
