 Job Description
 
 
 
 Checkout.com is seeking an experienced Sales Engineer to join our team here in Dubai! The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical leadership and guidance to our clients in the MENA region, throughout the entire sales lifecycle. As a Sales Engineer, you are responsible for technical ownership of client relationships from initial contact in the sales cycle throughout the solutioning, integration, and go-live stages of the customer journey. The ability to solve business and technical requirements through the application of Checkout.com products and solutions is core to the success of the position. Along the way, you'll collaborate closely with various in-house talents across Technology and Business to position our capabilities, products, services and solutions effectively with prospects.
 
 
 
 What You Will Do
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Upfront qualifications of merchants technical needs
 </li>
 <li>
 Work with Sales to provide product/business/tech knowledge in support of pre-sales activities
 </li>
 <li>
 Prepare and lead technical/commercial workshops
 </li>
 <li>
 Provide inputs for proposals and large and complex RFP and RFI responses
 </li>
 <li>
 Improve solution design, documentation and realisation of custom merchant solutions
 </li>
 <li>
 Improve communication with merchants on a technical level during the sales process
 </li>
 <li>
 Translate product, business and technical requirements into solutions
 </li>
 <li>
 Being constantly up to date with industry standards in order to offer the best bespoke solutions to our merchantsConduct thorough upfront qualification of merchant needs and technical infrastructure.
 </li>
 <li>
 Act as the primary technical subject matter expert, supporting the Sales team through all pre-sales phases.
 </li>
 <li>
 Design, prepare, and lead technical and commercial workshops for prospective merchants.
 </li>
 <li>
 Provide critical technical and solution design inputs for high-value proposals and RFP/RFI responses.
 </li>
 <li>
 Drive the improvement of solution design quality and documentation for complex solutions.
 </li>
 <li>
 Significantly improve the quality and clarity of technical communication with merchants.
 </li>
 <li>
 Expertly translate requirements into concrete, viable, and efficient solution designs.
 </li>
 <li>
 Maintain deep industry expertise to design best-in-class, bespoke solutions.
 
 
 </li>
 </ul>
 
 Qualifications
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 8+ years experience as a Sales Engineer / Solutions Architect or Pre-Sales Consultant
 </li>
 <li>
 Experience working in a technical client-facing role
 </li>
 <li>
 Familiar with API based integration methods, associated best practices, and related tools/frameworks
 </li>
 <li>
 Experience with at least one common front-end (pure JavaScript, React, Angular, etc) and back-end (Java, .NET, Python, Node, etc) technology
 </li>
 <li>
 Commercially-minded
 </li>
 <li>
 Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
 </li>
 <li>
 Highly organized and able to prioritize shifting workloads and responsibilities effectively
 </li>
 <li>
 Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
 </li>
 <li>
 Ability to translate technical jargon into business speak
 </li>
 <li>
 Previous exposure to RFI/RFP
 </li>
 <li>
 Very well-versed in payments; should understand the technicalities inside and out (ideally this should be a bonus requirement not a needed one)
 </li>
 <li>
 In depth payments industry exposure with an understanding of the related rules and regulations and payments schemes

Job Description
You will be leading external affairs in one of Checkout.com&rsquo;s most important geographies.
The External Affairs team sits within the Legal, Risk and Compliance department, and manages Checkout.com&rsquo;s engagement with regulators, governments and other third parties. External Affairs at Checkout.com covers regulatory affairs, public policy, government relations and licensing.
This is Checkout.com&rsquo;s first External Affairs role in the MENA region, meaning you can really make your mark. You will be working with all areas of the business and be the primary architect of the company&rsquo;s reputation in a strategic growth market. You will have a seat at the table with local executives and the freedom to shape how Checkout.com is perceived by the government and regulator.

What you&rsquo;ll do<ul><li>
Build relationships: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with regulators, government bodies and relevant third parties. You will ensure Checkout.com is viewed as a strategic partner.</li><li>
Regulatory affairs: Work with the Legal and Compliance team to handle regulatory enquiries, with a particular focus on narrative and positioning.</li><li>
Advocacy: You will design and execute advocacy campaigns to secure Checkout.com&rsquo;s regulatory priorities, delivering positive commercial outcomes.
</li><li>Public policy: Analyse legislation to understand opportunities and risks. Influence fintech policy in the MENA region before it becomes law.</li><li>
Narrative: Craft a UAE specific external narrative and then tell the Checkout.com story.</li><li>
Industry advocacy: Represent Checkout.com in industry associations, forums and conferences.</li></ul>
What we are looking for<ul><li>
6+ years of experience working in external affairs (public affairs agency, in-house role, trade body), or in government or a financial services regulator.</li><li>
A strong understanding of the UAE political and regulatory machinery, with an ability to navigate the local landscape effectively</li><li>
A proven ability to build deep relationships and influence decisions</li><li>
The ability to analyse complex technical policy and create actionable strategies (You do not need to be a financial services expert but you must prove that you have the ability to understand a new and complex subject quickly)</li><li>
A track record of keeping calm under pressure</li><li>
A practical, solutions-oriented focus and enthusiasm for taking on new challenges</li><li>
Impeccable written communication skills to be able to deliver a message succinctly</li><li>
Being comfortable using data is a strong advantage</li><li>
Fluency in Business Arabic (spoken and written) is a strong advantage</li><li>
Previous FinTech, payments, software, e-commerce and/or bank experience is desirable but not essential</li><li>
Experience working in a start up or other fast-paced and dynamic environment is desirable but not essential</li></ul>
