Assists students in learning knowledge and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible citizens. Performs in compliance with instructional program guidelines and legal requirements of Health and Medical Science curriculum and the aligned career credential.</p></div><p></p>
<div></div><div><p><b>Essential Job Functions:</b></p><ul><li><div>
Teaches content information and skills in the following areas: Practicing safety in the workplace, using tools and materials, solving problems, providing patient care related to Health and Medical Sciences, career basics for the Health and Medical Sciences field, and examining all aspects of the industry.</div></li><li><div>
Develops and provides curriculum and instruction that aligns with the VDOE Health Sciences program and the aligned career credential.</div></li><li><div>
Works collaboratively in a technical center setting to develop work-based learning opportunities for students to meet the VDOE high quality work-based learning expectations.</div></li><li><div>
Collaborates with outside agencies to develop work-based learning opportunities (clinical) for students to meet the VDOE high quality work-based learning expectations.</div></li><li><div>
Meets all career and technical education implementation requirements associated with the Carl D. Perkins Act implementation.</div></li><li><div>
Meets and instructs the student(s) in the locations and at the time designated.</div></li><li><div>
Develops and maintains the physical environment of the classroom that is conducive to effective learning within the limits of resources provided by the system.</div></li><li><div>
Prepares for classes assigned and shows evidence of preparation upon request of the immediate supervisor.</div></li><li><div>
Demonstrates mastery of content area.</div></li><li><div>
Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.</div></li><li><div>

Maintains classroom budget and student organization funding. Orders materials, supplies and instructional equipment utilizing school system guidelines.</p><b>

Uses standard office equipment and equipment related to education and industry specific equipment.</p><b>

Physical Demands:</b></div><p>
Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to use a telephone, to enter data into a computer terminal; to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear, understand speech and speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly at normal levels indoors and on the telephone. Frequent walking, standing, light lifting up to 50 pounds, and other limited physical activities are required. Occasional travel with students on field trips may be necessary. Daily personal and close contact with children to provide classroom management and learning environment support is required. Regular contact with other staff members and parents is required.</p><b>
Work Environment:</b><p>
Duties performed typically in school settings to include; classroom, gym, cafeteria; auditorium; and recreational areas. The noise level is quiet to moderate.</p></div><p></p>

<p></p><div><p>Knowledge of current Medical Terminology, anatomy and physiology. Requires knowledge of the concepts, principles and methodologies of instruction. Requires general knowledge of academic curriculum for assigned classes. Demonstrated ability to develop instructional goals, to design and deliver instruction and to assess students' learning. Demonstrated ability to communicate with others effectively, both orally and in writing. Demonstrated ability in decision-making, problem analysis, conflict resolution, interpersonal relationships, and planning.</p></div><p></p>
<div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Requirements</b></h2></div>
<p></p><div><p>Must hold or be eligible for a Virginia teaching license, with an endorsement in Allied Health, Health and Medical Science, Nursing, Physical or Occupational Therapy, Nursing, or Medical Assisting, and meet the requirement prerequisites with an associated industry credential. Must maintain First Aid, CPR, and AED certification. Prior teaching experience in technical education is preferred.</p><p>

Teaches content information and skills in the following areas: Practicing safety in the workplace, using tools and materials, solving mathematical problems related to electricity, applying basic electrical theory, navigating the National Electrical Code (NEC) book, selecting and installing conductors, identifying and installing conduit and raceways, examining lighting, communication, and power systems, identifying and installing panel boards and switchboards, identifying and installing grounding systems, interpreting blueprints and specifications, installing and maintaining motors and drives, motor controls and programmable logic controllers, describing generators and power supplies, installing transformers, career basics for the electricity field, examining all aspects of the electrical industry.</div></li><li><div>
Collaborates with representatives of local construction companies, electrical contractors, material suppliers, and county building inspectors in the facilitation of a program advisory committee and in support of construction projects both on and off campus.</div></li><li><div>
