<div>SUMMARY
The Paralegal will support the Health and Human Services (HHS), Office for Civil Rights (OCR) as an integral contributor to the success and performance of OCR and further OCR&rsquo;s mission as described above thru various mission support activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Responsible for the integration of CNI Core Competencies into daily functions, including: commitment to integrity, knowledge/quality of work, supporting financial goals of the company, initiative/motivation, cooperation/relationships, problem analysis/discretion, accomplishing goals through organization, positive oral/written communication skills, leadership abilities, commitment to Affirmative Action, reliability/dependability, flexibility and ownership/accountability of actions taken.
Participates in resolving complaints alleging violations of the various privacy and civil rights laws for compliance with OCR policy and guidelines for case processing.
Resolves complaints recommended for administrative, non-investigative closures using prewritten templates and established case resolution guidelines.
Consistently and accurately distinguish between the different technical assistance letters and uses the most appropriate template; follow policy regarding consent from complainants; draft case notes, closure letters, and other necessary documents with minimal to no typos or grammatical errors.
Conducts routine office functions with minimal direction and has experience with a variety of computer applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
Ability to produce, track and manage multiple deliverables with overlapping deadlines in a high-performing environment.
Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.
Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor&rsquo;s instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.
Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and co-workers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions as the best of own ability.
Promotes and encourages a culture of compliance with all applicable rules (federal, state, local, Federal Acquisition Regulations, Code of Federal Regulations, Prime Contract requirements, etc.) for themselves and the company as a whole. Fosters an environment in which they will report any violations or reasonably suspected violation of CNI policy, FAR, and/or CFR and are comfortable discussing the myriad compliance, conflict, FAR, CFR, etc. issues that arise during the performance of a government contract.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Minimum educational experience is an Associate&rsquo;s degree from an accredited college/university or experience equivalent to the GS-7 level or higher in the Federal Government.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION
Must be able to obtain government security clearance.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

<div><div>The Associate Scientist works with a team of environmental professionals in Lakewood, CO. The person in this position possesses sufficient skills and abilities to conduct laboratory activities such as sample preparation or operating instruments (e.g., GC, GC/MS, HPLC, ICP/AES, ICP/MS) to analyze organic and/or inorganic compounds, data review or conducting air monitoring or other field related activities with direction and oversight as well as sufficient versatility to support additional assigned tasks as needed to meet client requirements.

Assignments in environmental management (waste management, waste minimization, regulatory compliance) and health and safety compliance (inspections, inventory of PPE, laboratory supply inventory, and ordering supplies, etc.).
Follows specific guidance and drafts SOPs for management review.
Samples receipt and data entry for LIMS tracking following detailed instructions.
Samples preparation and analysis as described above following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and EPA reference methods.
Provides general laboratory support (e.g., glassware preparation) following detailed instructions.
Typical assignments require working on your feet while wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE, generally a lab coat, safety glasses and gloves) for most of the day.
Performs filing, data entry, word processing or similar clerical tasks may be assigned.
Other duties may be assigned.

Must pass a U.S. federal security screening prior to beginning employment.
US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status is required.
JOB SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Attention to detail and excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
Must be able to lift and carry 40 pounds.
Administrative support skills including word processing and editing, spreadsheet and database maintenance, scheduling and calendar management (preferably with web-based tools) are preferred.
Experience working within a team environment is preferred.
&ldquo;Hands-on&rdquo; experience in a laboratory setting is preferred.
Possession of OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER is desirable.
