<ul><li><div><div>Under the supervision of the Engineering Manager, the Building Engineer performs general, routine maintenance and servicing operations throughout the hospital plant and associated buildings. The Building Engineer takes a lead role on a variety of different projects and is expected to independently carry out assigned responsibilities. Duties include inspection, preventative maintenance, project management, and repair of equipment, facilities, and utility systems. Performs minor construction and equipment installations. Work is performed in accordance to departmental and manufacturers standards. Seeks guidance from the Engineering Manager when needed.</div>
</div></li></ul></div></li><li><div><div><b>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</b></div>
<ul><li><div>Performs inspections, maintenance and repairs to facilities to provide a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Performs repairs to failed equipment according to established standards and within acceptable timeframes. Completes activities in a manner that maximizes effectiveness of the task and minimizes the impact to the customer.
</div></li><li><div>Defines preventative maintenance parameters and processes for new pieces of equipment. Monitors effectiveness of existing preventative maintenance procedures.</div>
</li><li><div>Provides notification of equipment shutdowns to appropriate leadership, departmental personnel, and Service Response Center Operators.
</div></li><li><div>Maintains documentation to accurately record equipment problems and failures specifically including, but not limited to, work order completeness.
</div></li><li><div>Provides complete documentation as required by management and for authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ) specifically including, but not limited to, work order documentation.</div>
</li><li><div>Creates a bill of materials from blueprints.</div>
</li><li><div>Develops technical training parameters.</div>
</li><li><div>Ensures good rapport and cooperative working relationship with internal and external customers. Participates in all hospital and departmental training as required by leadership.</div>
</li><li><div>Responds promptly and appropriately to all forms of Hospital communications including, but not limited to, pagers, radios, telephone, e-mail messages, verbal and written communications.
</div></li><li><div>Provides guidance and direction to others. Delegates specific project management responsibilities to others.
</div></li><li><div>Plans, organizes, and coordinates small projects.
</div></li><li><div>Works from blueprints and estimates projects.
</div></li><li><div>Manages individual inventory following departmental inventory management and control parameters.
</div></li><li><div>Performs under duties and specialized tasks as assigned by leadership.</div>
</li></ul></div></li><li><div><div><b>LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS</b></div>
<ul><li><div><div>License in electrical, HVAC, or plumbing is preferred but not required. Will substitute experience for licensure.</div>
</div></li></ul></div></li><li><div><div><b>MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS</b></div>
<ul><li><div>High school diploma or equivalent required.
</div></li><li><div>Some college classes in technical field (electrical, HVAC, or plumbing) a plus.</div>
</li><li><div>Minimum of five years&rsquo; experience in a healthcare setting.</div>
</li><li><div>Working knowledge of Nation Fire Protection Association codes and guidelines.</div>
</li><li><div>Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate effectively and respectfully with team members, various levels of management, and internal and external customers.</div>
</li><li><div>Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
</div></li><li><div>Must maintain a positive attitude and be able to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Building Engineer

<ul><li><div><div>The Respiratory Care Clinical Practice Manager is responsible for developing processes to assure evidence based clinical outcomes and patient safety initiatives. The manager is responsible for the daily planning, work scheduling and coordination of education, and operational performance. Retains 24-hour responsibility, but may utilize supervisory staff to operationalize activities. The manager is expected to independently carry out assigned responsibilities but seeks guidance from the director and/or upper management given unusual or unanticipated circumstances that require deviation of policy/practice or allocation of funds to resolve. Reports to the Director or Respiratory Care.</div>
</div></li></ul></div></li><li><div><div><b>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</b></div>
<ul><li><div>Develops strategies for frontline patient safety engagement and accountability.
</div></li><li><div>Facilitates a safe environment and just culture of patient safety through the development and management of activities that reduce the risk of injury to patients, visitors, and stakeholders and promotes reporting of events.</div>
</li><li><div>Leads efforts associated with new knowledge and innovation including interdisciplinary quality initiatives (unit specific quality improvement projects, Patient Satisfaction, and Culture of Safety surveys), evidence based practice projects and clinical research.</div>
</li><li><div>Performs other duties as assigned.
</div></li></ul></div></li><li><div><div><b>LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS</b></div>
<ul><li><div>Current registration as a Registered Respiratory Therapist from the National Board of Respiratory Care. NPS certification required. Must maintain licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.</div>
</li></ul></div></li><li><div><div><b>MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS</b></div>
<ul><li><div>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree required.
</div></li><li><div>Minimum of three to five years&rsquo; experience in pediatric Respiratory Care required.
</div></li><li><div>One to three years&rsquo; management level experience preferred.
</div></li><li><div>Demonstrated excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to plan, develop, coordinate and maintain a professional work environment.
</div></li><li><div>Must have interpersonal skills to communicate detailed clinical observations and evaluations with other members of the healthcare team.
</div></li><li><div>Must have analytical skills necessary to assess and prioritize care based on assessments.
</div></li><li><div>Besides managerial activities, must possess the ability to identify problems and implement solutions for operational and organizational issues.
</div></li><li><div>Interpersonal skills necessary in order to direct and assign work to subordinates, explain hospital and department policies and procedures and communicate effectively with other professionals.

Clinical Practice Manager, Respiratory Care

<div><div><div><div><ul><li><div><div><b>GENERAL SUMMARY</b></div>
<ul><li><div><div>The Respiratory Care Practitioner provides a variety of specialized and routine clinical therapies to the neonatal and pediatric population. Provides clinical treatment utilizing state of the art equipment and a multidisciplinary process in critical care, inpatient, outpatient, and emergency settings. Respiratory Care Practitioners work to enhance a multidisciplinary approach through communication with the care team, patients and family members, and colleagues.</div>
</div></li></ul></div></li><li><div><div><b>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</b></div>
<ul><li><div>Assesses patient condition based on medical history, observation, examination, physician&rsquo;s diagnosis, laboratory findings, the results of specific test or respiratory function, and other appropriate diagnostic procedures.
</div></li><li><div>Develops or modifies the respiratory care plan and makes specific recommendations to physicians regarding indicated therapy.
</div></li><li><div>Administers appropriate diagnostic tests and procedures to evaluate therapeutic responses including: blood gas sampling and interpretation, oxygen saturation, end-tidal carbon dioxide measurement, pulmonary mechanics, inhaled medications and may assist with endotracheal intubation and bronchoscopy.
</div></li><li><div>Responds to respiratory and other defined emergencies such as transfer of neonatal high risk patients, cardiopulmonary arrest, and trauma activations.
</div></li><li><div>Maintains artificial airways and provides mechanical ventilation, in addition provides transport of those patients with an artificial airway or mechanical ventilation to locations in order to facilitate tests and procedures.
</div></li><li><div>Initiates patient and caregiver teaching as appropriate.
</div></li><li><div>Completes necessary documentation of all pertinent observations related to patient care treatments, response to therapy, and all recommendations for modification in the treatment plan.
</div></li><li><div>Performs other duties as assigned.

<ul><li><div>Current registration as a Registered Respiratory Therapist from the National Board of Respiratory Care.
</div></li><li><div>American Heart Association (AHA) certification such as Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) designation is required and/or must be obtained.
