Ready to tackle all aspects of groundskeeping, from routine maintenance to landscape improvements? The <b>Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR)</b>, Park Maintenance and Recreation Services Division, is seeking a motivated and experienced<b> Senior Grounds Keeper!</b><b> </b>This <b>full-time, permanent </b>position in Honolulu involves supervising and assisting with the maintenance and upkeep of park facilities and surrounding grounds.<br>
<br>
<b>What You'll Do</b><b>:</b><ul><li><b>
Supervise and perform grounds maintenance</b> including mowing, trimming, watering, and cleaning parks, facilities, parking lots, and right-of-ways.</li><li><b>
Lead and oversee work crews</b> including maintenance personnel and community service workers by assigning daily tasks and ensuring productivity.</li><li><b>
Operate and maintain vehicles and equipment</b> to transport staff, supplies, and materials and perform basic upkeep.</li><li><b>
Train staff on maintenance and safety practices</b> including proper use and care of tools and equipment.</li><li><b>
Inspect parks, facilities, equipment, and contractor-maintained areas</b> to identify damage, vandalism, and needed repairs.</li><li><b>
Manage schedules and coordinate park usage</b> including permits, reporting issues, and assisting with minor repairs.</li><li>
Perform other related duties as required.</li></ul><br>

Special Work Requirements</b><b>:</b><ul><li>
Work schedule is from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., with varying days off.</li><li>
Will be required to work evenings and weekends.</li><li>
Will serve as a Disaster Response Worker during declared emergencies.</li></ul><br>

<b>EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:</b><br>
Experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to show competence in the <b>care and maintenance of grounds and landscaped areas.</b><br>

Must be able to:</p><ul><li>
Care for and grow shrubs, flowers, trees, and lawns.</li><li>
Use and maintain grounds maintenance tools and equipment.</li><li>
Plan, assign, and supervise the work of others.</li><li>
Give and follow clear oral and written instructions.</li><li>
Operate hand and power tools for grounds maintenance.</li><li>
Take care of plants, trees, and turf properly.</li><li>
Promote and enforce safe work practices.</li></ul><br>
