Under minimal supervision, perform and coordinate a variety of semi-skilled to highly skilled construction, renovation and maintenance of new and existing parks sites, facilities, structures, and other assets.<div></div><div>

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</div><ul><li><div>
Performs and/or coordinates tasks related to the construction, renovation, and upgrade of new and existing parks&rsquo; properties and facilities under minimal supervision from the Construction Supervisor. This generally includes, but is not limited to site preparation, demolition, grading, installation of basic utilities, irrigation systems, sidewalks, trails, playgrounds, structures, and landscaping.</div></li><li><div>
Provides mentorship for work of Temporary and Seasonal Employees as assigned by the Construction Lead or Construction Supervisor.</div></li><li><div>
Provides contractor oversight such as concrete installation, roof repair and replacement, shelter installation and repair, bathroom upgrades, siding, and other facility maintenance repairs.</div></li><li><div>
Provides pre-construction plan review and input to ensure successful park projects.</div></li><li><div>
Coordinates construction materials and supplies; and reserves City or rental equipment as needed.</div></li><li><div>
Interacts with other departments on construction issues in both new and existing City parks.</div></li><li><div>
Performs or coordinates a variety of semi-skilled to skilled construction trades and maintenance tasks at new, renovated, or existing park sites or facilities.</div></li><li><div>
Performs skilled work tasks associated with installation and maintenance of landscape areas.</div></li><li><div>
Uses and operates tools and equipment and trains others in their safe and proper use to complete construction and maintenance tasks such as builders level, transit, hand and power tools (chain saws and welders); tractor/loader/backhoe, snow removal equipment, dump truck, and trencher.</div></li><li><div>
Performs snow removal as needed and directed by the Park Operations Manager, Construction Supervisor, or Construction Lead to ensure effective snow removal operations. Assists in other emergency operations.</div></li><li><div>
Works in a team environment; helps develop skills of other members of the construction team.</div></li><li><div>
Maintains records of work performed and equipment and materials needed &ndash; as-built drawings. Plans work schedule to meet specified objectives.</div></li><li><div>
Ensures all City and department safety procedures, regulations and policies are observed and followed to promote a safe work environment and prevent injuries and illnesses.</div></li><li><div>
Uses all required safety equipment and follows all safety regulations, policies and procedures. Reports all accidents and damage to City property.</div></li><li><div>
Adheres to organizational policies, rules and safety regulations related to city vehicles, equipment, and park facilities.</div></li><li><div>
Ensures safety measures are followed at construction sites; such as overseeing proper placement of barricades and securing construction sites at the end of the day.</div></li><li><div>
Identifies, addresses or elevates any health and safety risks within park facilities. Reports safety concerns to appropriate supervisors or contacts.</div></li><li><div>
Reports all injuries, accidents, and damage to City property on the same day that they occur.</div></li><li><div>
Responsible for the safety of self, others, materials, and equipment and uses all required personal protective equipment (PPE).</div></li><li><div>
Adheres to all Label and MSDS requirements when using chemicals and is fully aware of the product specifications and required PPE.</div></li><li><div>
Ensures proper use of vehicles, equipment and tools to accomplish tasks obtaining proper training before operation.</div></li><li><div>
Performs maintenance and cleaning of machinery, equipment, and tools to ensure safe operation.</div></li><li><div>
Performs basic safety checks and cleaning of all vehicles and equipment before use. Does not operate a vehicle or equipment in an unsafe manner, including use of a cell phone.</div></li><li><div>
Reports all damage and poorly functioning equipment and vehicles to the Parks Equipment and Fleet Technician.</div></li><li><div>
Performs related duties as required to meet the needs of the City.</div></li><li><div>
Knows and complies with all City and department policies; participating in professional trainings and development; and adhering to attendance and workplace attire policies.</div></li><li><div>

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</div><ul><li><div>
Ability, under minimal supervision, to perform work outlined and coordinate the work of others.</div></li><li><div>
Ability to utilize any required safety equipment including but not limited to normal personal protective equipment. Ability to follow OSHA regulations and guidelines.</div></li><li><div>
Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively, professionally and courteously with co-workers and the public.</div></li><li><div>
Ability to read, interpret, and stake features noted within construction plans.</div></li><li><div>
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.</div></li><li><div>
Ability and willingness to work irregular hours during emergencies to respond to Parks and Forestry construction / maintenance needs, including on-call for snow removal or tree related emergencies.</div></li><li><div>
Ability to plan work activities, to plan schedules that meet weekly and long-term objectives, and to keep accurate and timely records of work performed.</div></li><li><div>
Ability to demonstrate experience using personal computers and software such as word processing and email. Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.</div></li><li><div>
Knowledge and familiarity with and interest in performing trade work in areas of carpentry, plumbing, welding, electrical, and property / building maintenance (vandalism and minor structure repairs).</div></li><li><div>
Skills in excellent customer service.</div></li><li><div>
Valid driver&rsquo;s license and ability to maintain acceptable motor vehicle record.</div></li><li><div>
Have and maintain acceptable motor vehicle record, including criminal conviction history.</div></li></ul><div></div><div>
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS</div><ul><li><div>
Knowledge at a general level of plumbing (restrooms, drinking fountains, water hydrants, and hose bibs)</div></li><li><div>
Knowledge at a general level of electrical systems (uses electrical testing equipment such as volt-ohm meter, fault locator, line locator and toning device for trouble shooting maintenance and repairs).</div></li><li><div>
Knowledge and familiarity with masonry, concrete, welding, carpentry, and maintenance.</div></li><li><div>
Class B Contractors license Mechanical aptitude.</div></li><li><div>
Current AED and First aid certification.</div></li></ul><div></div><div>
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE</div><ul><li><div>
High school diploma or GED.</div></li><li><div>
Three (3) years on the job experience working in the construction, irrigation, or building maintenance field or closely related field.</div></li></ul><div></div><div>

WORKING CONDITIONS AND REQUIREMENTS</div><ul><li><div>
Physical and mental effort: Ability to perform a wide range of strenuous physical and manual tasks in both outdoor and indoor environments. Physical ability to stand, walk, and kneel. Upper body strength to lift and carry items up to 65 pounds on a frequent basis. Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities that permits the employee to communicate effectively on the telephone and in person. Sufficient vision or other powers of observation that permits the employee to review, evaluate and prepare a variety of written documents and materials.</div></li><li><div>
Work environment: Ability to work under stress from demanding deadlines, public contact, and changing priorities and conditions. Ability to work in an office and indoor shop environment as well as in the outdoors year-round in a variety of weather conditions, including exposure to noise.</div></li><li><div>
Machines and equipment used: Excavator, skid steer, tractor/loader/backhoe, snow removal equipment, dump truck, and trencher. Builders level, transit, hand and power tools, including chain saws and welding equipment; long‑handles tools; measuring devices, shop tools and equipment; Machinery including riding and hand mowers, edgers, weed eaters, string trimmers, backpack blowers, power rakes, grinders, drills, York rake, chainsaws, rototillers, tractors, front end loaders, backhoes, dump trucks, pick-up trucks, utility vehicles, trailers, snow plows, snow blowers, small power equipment, and hand tools.</div></li></ul></div><div></div><div>
