<p></p><div><p>The City of Chaska is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-driven Human Resource Generalist to join our HR team. As a natural relationship-builder, problem-solver, and organizer, you&rsquo;ll play a key role in supporting day-to-day HR operations while contributing to projects that strengthen our HR functions and enhance how we support and engage employees across the organization. <div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Responsibilities</b></h2></div>
<div><p>1.Administer core human resource programs and compliance requirements</p><ul><li>
Manage employee Leave of Absence (LOA) and Salary Continuation plans.</li><li>
Coordinate drug testing procedures, including DOT-mandated testing.</li><li>
Ensure all HR processes meet organizational standards and legal compliance.</li></ul>
2.Deliver and manage employee benefits programs<ul><li>
Guide new and current employees through benefit options and enrollment.</li><li>
Process benefit elections, changes, and life event updates.</li><li>
Lead Open Enrollment efforts and resolve benefits-related issues with vendors</li></ul>
3.Lead and support recruitment and selection activities<ul><li>
Manage the City&rsquo;s online applicant tracking system.</li><li>
Prepare and post job openings, screen and interview candidates.</li><li>
Extend conditional job offers and oversee pre-employment processes.</li></ul>
4.Provide HR support and customer service to employees<ul><li>
Serve as the first point of contact for HR-related inquiries within assigned departments.</li><li>
Support onboarding, benefits, leave, policy questions, labor contract questions, and employee relations.</li><li>
Promote positive employee experiences through timely and accurate service.</li></ul>
5.Support policy development and implementation<ul><li>
Assist in reviewing and updating HR policies and procedures.</li><li>
Communicate and educate staff on policy changes.</li><li>
Ensure policy application is consistent and aligned with organizational goals.</li></ul>
6.Manage HRIS data and system processes<ul><li>
Maintain accurate employee records and process personnel changes in the HRIS.</li><li>
Generate and analyze reports to support data-driven HR decisions.</li><li>
Safeguard HRIS data integrity and confidentiality.</li><li>
Make recommendations to streamline and make the system more efficient.</li></ul>
7.Coordinate the workers&rsquo; compensation and return-to-work process<ul><li>
Serve as liaison between employees, supervisors, and third-party administrators.</li><li>
Monitor claims, ensure compliance, and facilitate return-to-work plans.</li><li>
Document and track restrictions and accommodations.</li></ul>
8.Maintain HR records and process departmental transactions<ul><li>
Organize and update employee and departmental records in accordance with retention guidelines.</li><li>
Prepare and submit HR invoices to Accounts Payable for processing.</li><li>
Respond to unemployment claims and public data requests.</li></ul>
9.Support employee engagement, training, and special HR initiatives<ul><li>
Coordinate employee development and engagement activities.</li><li>
Assist in designing and delivering training programs.</li><li>
Contribute to HR projects including inclusion and belonging, wellness, compensation, performance management, and leadership development.</li></ul>
10.Advance organizational inclusion, belonging and cultural agility goals<ul><li>
Collaborate with the HR Manager and department leaders to support inclusion and belonging strategies.</li><li>
Promote an inclusive and respectful workplace culture.</li><li>
Contribute to initiatives that foster cultural awareness and equity across departments.</li></ul>
11.Performs all other related duties as requested or assigned.</div><br>

<div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Qualifications</b></h2></div>
<div><p>Education and Experience</p><br>
<ul><li>
Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Communications, or a closely related field required</li><li>
3 years Human Resource experience.</li><li>
Valid driver's license or ability to obtain by hire date</li></ul><br>
Other Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities<br>
<ul><li>
Demonstrated organizational and communication skills; strong attention to detail and follow up</li><li>
Excellent communication skills with ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written</li><li>
Experience in applicant tracking system (preferred NeoGov)</li><li>
Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat, PowerPoint</li></ul><br>
Preferred Qualifications<br>
<ul><li>
Public/municipal HR experience preferred</li><li>
HR Certification (PSHRA-CP, PSHRA-SCP, HRCI, or SHRM)</li><li>
General knowledge of HRIS systems</li><li>
Knowledge of and experience with federal and state laws regarding public sector employment law</li></ul></div><p></p>
