About the position</b><div>
The Community Engagement Coordinator leads efforts to connect the community with Parks &amp; Recreation programs, facilities, and services. This role develops and implements engagement strategies through events, outreach social media, marketing campaigns, and partnerships. The position works closely with internal teams and community partners to advance the department&rsquo;s mission and ensure inclusive, meaningful engagement opportunities.</div><p><br>
Full-Time 40 hours per week</p><p>

<div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Essential Duties</b></h2></div>
 <div><p><i>Duties include, but are not limited to the following:</i></p><ul><li>
Plan, develop, and manage communications and engagement efforts through content creation for websites, social media, newsletters, promotional materials, and other digital/print media to support outreach and departmental goals.</li><li>
Coordinate and implement community engagement activities, including events, public meetings, presentations, outreach campaigns, and partnerships with diverse community groups and stakeholders.</li><li>
Develop and manage sponsorships, advertising, and grants to support departmental initiatives, including creating packages, securing partnerships, and administering related agreements and reports.</li><li>
Monitor, evaluate, and report engagement outcomes by maintaining records, analyzing data, managing surveys, and preparing reports to inform decision-making and demonstrate impact.</li><li>
Support internal operations by maintaining websites, assisting with budgets, serving as a liaison to advisory groups, leading and assisting with special projects, and performing related administrative functions.</li><li>
Recruit, train, schedule, and lead staff. Provide input on performance evaluations and support staff development.</li><li>
Represent the Department and provide excellent customer service at community events, meetings, and outreach opportunities; foster positive relationships with the public and partner organizations.</li><li>
Operate and drive a motor vehicle safely and legally.</li><li>
Participate in the Emergency Management program including planning, classes, training sessions, exercises and emergency events as required.</li><li>
Act ethically and honestly; apply ethical standards of behavior in work activities; build confidence in the City though own actions.</li><li>
Conform with all safety rules and performs work in a safe manner.</li><li>
Maintain effective work relationships.</li><li>
Adhere with all City and Department policies.</li><li>
Arrive to work, meetings, and other work-related functions on time and maintain regular job attendance.</li><li>

<div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Qualifications and Skills</b></h2></div><br>

<b>Qualifying Education/Experience</b></p><br>
<ul><li>
Bachelor&rsquo;s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business administration, journalism, communications, marketing, public affairs, or related field and one year of related work experience.</li></ul>
OR<br>
<ul><li>
High school diploma or equivalent and five years of related work experience and/or education in business administration, journalism, communications, marketing, public affairs, or related field.</li></ul><br>
<b>
Desired Qualifications</b><ul><li>
Experience performing community outreach and engagement in recreation programs.</li><li>
Experience working in a community or non-profit service-based organization and/or local government.</li></ul><br>
<b>
Certifications/Licenses</b><div><ul><li>
Possession of and the ability to maintain a valid Oregon Driver&rsquo;s License.</li></ul></div><b>
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities</b><div><i>
Knowledge of:</i> community outreach and engagement strategies; Parks &amp; Recreation programs, facilities and services.</div><div></div><div><i><br>
Skill in:</i> clear and concise communication, both orally and written; problem solving to effectively address issues as they are presented including with minimal preparation time; using technology, software, and troubleshooting equipment; using spreadsheet and database software to gather data and create reports; typing/word processing, filing, ten key, and operating office equipment; typing by touch, proofreading and editing; interpersonal relations, maintaining effective working relationships with the public, co-workers and management.</div><div></div><div><i><br>
Ability to:</i> conduct meetings, training sessions and public presentations; engage diverse audiences or groups and build effective partnerships; organize tasks and establish priorities based on the needs of the department; write technical reports, contracts, and other documents for internal and external use; create presentations including creating visual aids, infographics, workflow diagrams, and short-form video; extract data to interpret and analyze information and share that information online, in written format, or in person to individuals or groups; identify, troubleshoot and resolve user-level software and database issues; perform technical needs analysis; and research, recommend and implement solutions; resolve problems and make decisions independently; use a multi-line phone system; computer and associated software including photo and video editing programs; copy and fax machines; pass a pre-employment background check and/or criminal history check; and other office related tools and equipment.</div><div></div><div><i><br>
