Under general supervision performs work of moderate difficulty in the maintenance and repair of buildings and grounds in golf, horticulture or park management activities.</p><b>

<div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Examples Of Duties</b></h2></div>
<p></p><div><p>Maintains municipal buildings and grounds, operates mowing equipment, repairs and maintains park structures; inspects and maintains play apparatus; mixes and applies pesticides; grades and prepares athletic fields; operates dump trucks and loaders; performs minor tree pruning, makes minor repairs to irrigation, assists with hooking up and winterizing water features.</p><p>
Maintains greenhouse and conservatory building, grounds; assists in setting shows in conservatory; controls vents, heat valves, and temperature in greenhouses and conservatory; makes cuttings and collects seeds from various plants; labels and names plants; conducts tours, maintains reduced mowing and native prairie areas.</p><p>
Performs other assigned duties: acts as lead worker in the assignment and direction of seasonal employees, performs snow removal, ice rink maintenance.</p></div><p></p>
<div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Qualifications</b></h2></div>
<p></p><div><p>High School diploma or GED equivalent.</p><p>
Training in horticulture, turf grass, general building maintenance or related field, and 2 years increasingly responsible experience in greens keeping, gardening, turf maintenance or general building maintenance; or an equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the required work in this position.</p><p>
Must obtain an Iowa Pesticide Applicator&rsquo;s certification or equivalent certification within six (6) months of appointment and maintain throughout duration of employment.</p><p>
Must possess a valid driver&rsquo;s license upon application, obtain a Commercial Driver&rsquo;s License permit (CDLP) with air brake endorsement within 30 days of appointment and obtain a Class B Commercial Driver&rsquo;s License (CDL) with air brake endorsement within 90 days of of appointment and maintain throughout duration of employment.</p><p>
Must pass a physical examination and background check as prescribed by the City of Davenport. All CDL personnel are subject to Federal Motor Carriers Random Drug &amp; Alcohol Program.</p><p>
Must reside in Iowa or Illinois within two (2) years of hire and maintain residency throughout the duration of employment.</p></div><p></p>
