Public Works Maintenance &ndash; Street DivisionThe City of DeKalb is looking to hire a Public Works Maintenance position working in our Street Division. If you are looking for a career where you can work with your hands and make a direct impact in the community, we may have the opportunity for you!Typical duties include:<ul><li>Operating trucks and various public works equipment</li><li>Maintaining and repairing streets, sidewalks, storm sewers, curbs</li><li>Snow removal with snowplows, skid steers, tractors, etc.</li><li>Landscaping, tree trimming, brush removal, leaf pick-up</li><li>Responding and assisting with emergencies including storm cleanup and snow/ice removal.</li></ul>What we require:<ul><li>High school diploma or equivalent</li><li>Valid driver&rsquo;s license</li><li>Possession of a valid CDL Class B license through the State of IL or the ability to acquire a CDL Class B State of IL permit within an agreed upon timeframe (on-the-job training provided to obtain permit.)</li><li>Respond to emergency situations and maintain rotating on call schedule</li><li>Prior experience in public works, construction, or snow removal a plus, but willing to train the right person.</li></ul>We offer a competitive benefits package starting on the first day of employment that includes health, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage, participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) pension program, deferred compensation, 12 paid holidays, 2 floating holidays, vacation, and sick time.Please visit our website to view the full job description, hiring requirements and application instructions.Initial Review of Applications: April 17, 2026.
