Hourly Wage: $23.81 - $31.20 
Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt, Benefit-Eligible 
Position Overview
The City of Detroit Lakes is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Records Technician to join our Police Department. This position provides a wide range of clerical, administrative, and technical support to ensure accurate records management and smooth daily operations.
Key Responsibilities<ul><li>
Review and process officer reports; forward to prosecuting attorney.</li><li>
Prepare, record, and maintain a variety of reports, forms, and citations.</li><li>
Enter and manage data in the Records Management System; generate reports.</li><li>
Operate NCIC Criminal Justice Data Network, NIBRS, and Uniform Crime Reports systems.</li><li>
Provide information to the public, officers, and government agencies.</li><li>
Answer phones and assist walk-in visitors; determine urgency and coordinate responses.</li><li>
Assist command staff with administrative support, correspondence, scheduling, and supply management.</li><li>
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.</li></ul>
Minimum Qualifications<ul><li>
High School diploma or equivalent.</li><li>
Post-high school education/training in office procedures, bookkeeping, records management, data processing, or related field.</li><li>
Two (2) years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.</li><li>
Proficiency with computers and office software; strong written and verbal communication skills.</li><li>
Valid Minnesota Driver&rsquo;s License or equivalent.</li><li>
Must obtain and maintain CJIS and BCA certification.</li></ul>

Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.</li><li>
Effective public relations skills with the ability to handle emotional or hostile individuals.</li><li>
Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.</li><li>
Knowledge of City geography (or ability to learn quickly).</li></ul>
