<li>Typical dates/hours are April- October 2025, Monday- Friday, 7:00am-3:00pm.</li>

Responsibilities

The Waste Management Technician- Seasonal position drives a vehicle on an assigned route to collect garbage at City Parks and Grounds. The primary position responsibilities and areas of impact are:
<ul>
<li>Ensures City Parks and grounds are free of trash and debris.</li>
<li>Drive route as assigned by Park Maintenance Supervisor.</li>
<li>Maintain garbage containers are in working order and the correct locations.</li>
<li>Assist in providing maintenance to the City trail system and park grounds.</li>
<li>Ensures safety of all users through continual inspection of park property and amenities. Must demonstrate safe equipment operation and working conditions in traffic on City streets, parks and while entering confined spaces.</li>
<li>While these areas are the primary focus of this position, we believe strongly in teamwork and employees will be called upon to perform a variety of duties as a part of their role with the City.</li>

Requirements
<ul>
<li>High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D) required.</li>
<li>Valid Driver&rsquo;s License and excellent driving record, required.</li>
<li>This position requires the ability to lift/carry/push/pull at least 30-50 lbs., operate a motor vehicle and work under all weather conditions.</li>
<li>Candidates must successfully complete and pass the City&rsquo;s evaluation of the pre-employment process prior to their first day of employment. Pre-employment processes for this position includes professional reference checks, background check, driver&rsquo;s license check, work verification and education verification if applicable.</li>

<li>Typical hours are 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m., 24-hour shifts. Hours vary based on business need.</li>
</ul>
Responsibilities

The Assistant Fire Chief is a member of the command staff and is responsible for providing resources and direction to officers and firefighters in operations, training, suppression, response, technology, scheduling, emergency medical services, and emergency management. The primary position responsibilities and areas of impact are:
<ul>
<li>Develops long and short-term plans to maintain and improve service for the public.</li>
<li>Manages staff including work direction, coaching, training, setting performance objectives and measuring outcomes.</li>
<li>Manages and develops complex department projects to completion in the areas of training, technology management, emergency management, operations, suppression, emergency medical services, and response. Ensures staff are appropriately cross trained in these areas and tracks completion.</li>
<li>Manages various software and technologies for the Fire Department and assists in the development of the fire department budget.</li>
<li>Serves as Duty Chief for assigned schedule. Assumes command at major fire scenes and directs the response teams. Serves as liaison between the department and other city leaders during significant incidents. Facilitates significant incident debriefings, identifies areas of improvements and implements subsequent changes.</li>
<li>Performs all duties of a Captain and/or Lieutenant.</li>
</ul>

Requirements
<ul>
<li>Associate&rsquo;s degree is required.</li>
<li>Four-year degree required within four years of appointment is required.</li>
<li>Executive Fire Officer (EFO) or master&rsquo;s degree is preferred.</li>
<li>Minimum of seven years of experience working with a fire department of a similar size is required.</li>
<li>Current Firefighter I and Firefighter II (including Hazardous Materials Operations) certification is required.</li>
<li>Current or most recent fire department rank must be a Captain or higher for not less than two years or Lieutenant for not less than three years required.</li>
<li>Certified Minnesota State Emergency Medical Technician is required.</li>
<li>Local Hazard Zone (Blue Card) Certified within six months of hire is required.</li>
<li>Completion of a college accredited Fire Apparatus Operator course (FAO) is required within two years of employment.</li>
<li>Certified Emergency Manager is preferred.</li>
<li>Training in tactics, building construction, administration, disaster management, and hazardous materials is preferred.</li>
<li>Experience with computer technology and specialized Fire Department software is required.</li>
<li>Must maintain a valid driver&rsquo;s license (must have excellent driving record).</li>
<li>Work involves frequent calls to emergency situations. There is regular exposure to very disagreeable working conditions such as fumes, fire, smoke, extreme weather conditions including ice, snow, extreme high and low temperatures, humidity, rain, dirt, mud. The work involves exposure to hazardous conditions such as toxic chemicals, slippery conditions, working in traffic areas and adverse road conditions. While at emergency scenes, the Assistant Fire Chief 24-Hour Shift may have exposure to injury, trauma, blood-borne pathogens, traffic accidents, and visual and emotional trauma. The Assistant Fire Chief 24-Hour Shift is required to take appropriate safety precautions and wear protective equipment. Must be able to stand, climb ladders, balance, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl and reach, to walk or run on uneven surfaces, and to drag up to 185 pounds for a distance of 50 feet. There is hearing/listening, seeing/observing, communication, grasping and occasional lifting, pushing or pulling of up to 100 pounds, frequent lifting, pushing or pulling of up to 50 pounds and regular moving of objects up to 20 pounds. Moderate attention to detail and deadlines is required in completing reports and paperwork. Working 24-hour shifts may be required, where sleep is frequently disrupted.</li>
<li>Candidates must successfully complete and pass the City&rsquo;s evaluation of the pre-employment process prior to their first day of employment. Pre-employment processes for this position include professional reference checks, background check, driver&rsquo;s license check (must have a valid driver&rsquo;s license and excellent driving record), pre-employment physical exam, physical ability test, work history verification, education verification and leadership evaluation.</li>
