<div><p>The City of Elgin's Parks and Recreation department is seeking an enthusiastic individual to join us as a Graphic Design Intern. Applicants must be a current student in a 4-year degree program focused on graphic design or illustration. In this role, you will help experienced recreation program supervisors design, develop and execute marketing content.<br>

While this is an internship, we expect applicants to have a working knowledge of the MS Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and Canva. You must submit a portfolio of work to be considered. Work is performed to give an overall understanding of the marketing/promotional functions and processes within the Parks and Recreation Department.</p></div>
<div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</b></h2></div>
<p></p><div><ul><li>Assist with creating graphic design templates.</li><li>
Help develop and execute design concepts and content.</li><li>
Produce informational flyers and promotional materials.</li><li>
Assist with website development.</li><li>
Support digital marketing of the City of Elgin Parks and Recreation Department by performing directed activities.</li><li>
Maintain a positive professional public image and attitude with good public relations and customer service.</li><li>
Wear appropriate staff uniform.</li><li>
Attend all staff meetings.</li><li>
Abide by all City of Elgin rules and regulations as outlines in the Employee Manual.</li><li>
Other duties and projects as assigned.</li></ul></div><p></p>
<div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES</b></h2></div>
<p></p><div><ul><li>Desired interest in practices and role of parks and recreation within a community.</li><li>
Working knowledge of Adobe Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.</li><li>
Ability to create eye-catching visual graphic design format.</li><li>
Strong ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing; demonstrative knowledge of the use and application of MS Office Suite.</li></ul></div><p></p>
<div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</b></h2></div>
<p></p><div><ul><li>Completion of High School Diploma.</li><li>
Pursuing a Bachelor&rsquo;s in Marketing, Design or related field from an accredited college/university.</li><li>
Must be available to intern a minimum of 12 weeks for 480 hours at a min. of 40 hr. /week.</li></ul></div></div></div><p></p>
