No previous experience is required, HOWEVER the individual MUST reside within Grandville city limits.If selected, the City would send the individual through a multi-departmental fire academy to take place in the Fall of 2026. This academy meets multiple times per week with occasional Saturdays. Individuals will be paid $15.00 per hour while in academy. Applicants who are already certified with Michigan Firefighter I &amp; II and/or EMT-B certified may not need to attend the academy, depending on their previous training. New hires would be paid $17.50 per hour if they have either firefighter OR EMT certifications. Those with both firefighter AND EMT certifications would be paid $20.00 per hour. Once fully certified and passed the probationary phase, all paid on call hires would be paid $21.21 per hour when responding to calls for service.Under the supervision of a ranking officer the individual participates in departmental activities to protect lives and property within the City in an on-call status.
