<div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Essential Duties &amp; Responsibilities</b></h2></div>
<p></p><div><p><b>Position Summary: </b>Semi-skilled and manual labor involving minor construction, repair, and maintenance of public facilities including roadways, drainage systems, parks, athletic fields, and public grounds.</p><p><b>
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</b> (<i>The duties listed are intended to serve as an example of the typical functions performed. They are not exclusive or all-inclusive and will vary with assignments.)</i></p><ul><li>
Performs ornamental landscape and sports turf maintenance at City parks, public facilities, roadways, medians and right of ways including but not limited to, tree planting/trimming/pruning, litter/debris removal, household chemical application and irrigation system repairs.</li><li>
Performs roadway and storm sewer system maintenance and repairs including patching of potholes, repair/replacement of traffic signs, repair/replacement of sidewalks, minor asphalt overlays and cleaning of drainage structures.</li><li>
Performs landscape maintenance functions including cutting and edging of grass, removal of weeds, trimming of hedges and shrubs and clearing of brush with the use of hand/power equipment and tools.</li><li>
Prepares various athletic fields and playgrounds for safe play through daily maintenance and other related tasks.</li><li>
Inspects, repairs and cleans walkways, tables, signs, grills, exercise equipment, and playgrounds.</li><li>
Ensures timely reporting of preventive maintenance and repair of tools, equipment and vehicles.</li><li>
Adheres to safety rules, regulations and policies of the City and the Department.</li><li>
Completes work orders, accident reports, inspection checklists, daily work reports and other documents as assigned.</li><li>
Responds to emergency situations during and after hours to resolve immediate safety concerns.</li><li>
Provides input on improvements to work procedures and safety practices to improve the functions of areas of responsibility.</li><li>
Performs various miscellaneous tasks, including but not limited to setting up for events, moving furniture and equipment and works community outreach events as needed.</li><li>
Performs other duties as assigned.</li></ul></div><p></p>

Occupational hazards, environmental regulations and compliance thereof, and safety precautions of the trade.</li><li>
Principles, practices and techniques of general construction, landscape maintenance, or related field.</li><li>
Proper use and operation of hand and power tools.</li><li>
Basic computer software proficiency/understanding of, but not limited to, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat and other Department software programs.</li></ul><div><b>
Ability to:</b></div><ul><li>
Understand and adhere to Policies and Procedures.</li><li>
Follow safety rules and regulations of the City and the Department and utilize personal protection equipment as required.</li><li>
Performs heavy manual labor, repair and upkeep of landscape maintenance.</li><li>
Identify or discover existing and potential problems/opportunities and use reason, vision and creativity to reach conclusions and decisions that best resolve issues.</li><li>
Plan, organize, track and follow-up on details and meet deadlines for multiple projects with varying completion dates.</li><li>
Identify issues, generate and evaluate alternate solutions and make sound recommendations.</li><li>
Perform basic troubleshooting of irrigation systems.</li><li>
Safely operate hand tools, power tools and mechanical equipment.</li><li>
Maintain high standards for professional and ethical conduct</li><li>
Maintain a courteous and professional demeanor; respectfully listen to others to gain a full understanding of issues before making decisions.</li><li>
Utilize common hand and power tools and landscaping equipment.</li><li>
Operate various types of mechanical equipment including, but not limited to mowers, small tractors, aerial lifts and backhoe/front loaders.</li><li>
Understand and carry out written and oral instructions.</li><li>
Weekends and Holiday&rsquo;s may be required.</li><li>
Understand and interpret various City codes and regulations.</li><li>
Handle complaints in a courteous and effective manner.</li><li>
Work to make sound decisions based on well-established procedures.</li><li>
Respond to supervision, guidance and direction of superiors in a positive, receptive manner in accordance with stated policies.</li><li>
Maintain high standards for professional and ethical conduct.</li><li>
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, public agencies, vendors and the general public.</li><li>
Learn and apply a variety of work management government software. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.</li><li>
Follow safety rules and regulations of the Department and the City.</li><li>

<div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Education &amp; Experience</b></h2></div>

Minimum of one (1) year of experience in construction, landscaping, field maintenance and equipment operation, or closely related field.</div></li><li><div>
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver&rsquo;s License.</div></li></ul></div></div></div><p></p>
