<div><p>An individual in this position will respond to various emergencies, including fires, medical incidents, accidents, explosions, natural catastrophes, and hazardous material incidents where he/she extinguishes fires, rescues people and animals, provides emergency medical care, and mitigates hazards. Essential duties include:</p>
<ul><li>Prevents, combats and extinguishes fires with the goal of protecting lives, the environment and property.</li>
<li>Responds to and controls fires using water hoses, fire extinguishers, and water pumps.</li>
<li>Provides timely responses to emergencies to bring them under control, stabilizing the incident, and restoring order.</li>
<li>Locates and rescues occupants and animals of burning and/or hazardous buildings and/or environments; performs vehicle extrication.</li>
<li>Analyses hazardous situations and thinks of quick solutions and takes action.</li>
<li>Responds to fire alarms, potential gas leaks, medical emergencies, hazardous material incidents, rescue calls, and other emergencies.</li>
<li>Provides first aid, CPR, and other emergency medical care to sick or injured individuals.</li>
<li>Participates in search, rescue, and recovery operations.</li>
<li>Operates a variety of specialized tools and equipment for firefighting safely and effectively.</li>
<li>Drives, operates and maintains firefighting apparatus, pumps, trucks, engine, ladders.</li>
<li>Performs general maintenance on firefighting equipment and vehicles.</li>
<li>Completes a variety of reports; reviews fire reports for accuracy.</li>
<li>Teaches and participates in training classes, exercises and drills.</li>
<li>Assists in public relations and fire/life safety education activities.</li>
<li>Conducts fire prevention and pre-plan inspections.</li>
<li>Removes debris from roadways in emergency situations.</li>
<li>Helps prepare meals, performs daily cleaning tasks within the firehouse, related buildings and grounds.</li>
<li>Performs related duties.</li>
</ul>
<p><b>***This is a 24-hour position with the regular hours of 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 a.m. the following day, followed by two days off. With a 24-hour shift, Firefighters need to have extensive stamina that allows them to address dangerous situations effectively on a moment&rsquo;s notice at any time. Required training may fall outside of the regular schedule. This is an hourly position at a pay rate of $18.18 per hour. ***</b></p></div><p></p>

<div><p>The individual in this position will serve as the primary operational support position for the City's communications and community engagement efforts, ensuring consistent messaging, effective public information distribution, and meaningful engagement opportunities for residents, businesses, stakeholders, and visitors. This position will support the City&rsquo;s internal and external communications and engagement efforts and assist in advancing citywide strategic initiatives. Essential duties include:</p>
<ul><li>Serves as the primary content creator for the City's communication platforms, including website content, social media, newsletters, photography, videography, and promotional materials.</li>
<li>Develops, writes, edits, and distributes press releases, public notices, media advisories, newsletters, and other public information materials.</li>
<li>Maintains and updates the City's website to ensure timely, accurate, accessible, and engaging public information.</li>
<li>Manages and monitors the City's social media platforms and develops content strategies to increase public awareness and engagement.</li>
<li>Creates graphic design materials and visual communications consistent with City branding standards.</li>
<li>Coordinates photography and videography for City projects, events, programs, and initiatives.</li>
<li>Assists City departments with communication planning, public information distribution, marketing efforts, and public-facing materials.</li>
<li>Coordinates communication and promotional efforts for City events, programs, initiatives, public meetings, infrastructure improvements, and special projects.</li>
<li>Administers the Citizens Government Academy and Citizens Government Academy Junior programs, including recruitment, scheduling, logistics, communications, curriculum support, and participant engagement.</li>
<li>Assists with the City Ambassador Program and other community engagement initiatives designed to increase citizen participation, awareness, and involvement in City programs, services, and projects.</li>
<li>Conducts community outreach activities and represents the City at meetings, events, and public functions as assigned.</li>
<li>Assists with internal communication efforts designed to improve employee awareness, engagement, and organizational communication.</li>
<li>Maintains communication calendars, content schedules, media lists, photography archives, and communication databases.</li>
<li>Monitors communication analytics and prepares reports measuring engagement, reach, and effectiveness.</li>
<li>Works collaboratively with the Main Street Program Manager &amp; Downtown Engagement Coordinator to support downtown promotions, events, and public engagement initiatives.</li>
<li>Assists during emergency situations by supporting public information and communication efforts as assigned.</li>
<li>Executes and embodies the City of Griffin's Mission and Vision while promoting professional, accessible, and responsive communication with citizens and stakeholders.</li>
<li>Performs other related duties as assigned.</li></ul></div>
