<p></p><div><div>GENERAL DESCRIPTION</div><div>
Responsible for the overall direction and coordination of activities within the Technical Services area of the library. Responsible for ordering library materials, including large print books and audiobooks. Receives all new library books, audiobooks and DVDs to be added to the collection. Assigns call numbers, subject headings and barcodes to all library materials, to ensure that each item&rsquo;s placement in the collection is accurate, logical and easy for library patrons to locate.</div></div><p></p>
<div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Essential Duties</b></h2></div>
<p></p><div><p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES</p><br>
<p></p><ul><li>
Downloads bibliographic records from OCLC (Online Computer Library Center) and adds local holdings information to each record in the ELIN (Estacado Library Information Network) database.</li><li>
Ensures all received material is accounted for and that no damage has occurred during shipment.</li><li>
Schedules any returns or credits with vendors as necessary.</li><li>
Works closely with Reference Librarian, Children&rsquo;s Librarian, Teen Librarian and Library Director to keep collection current by withdrawing obsolete materials from the database.</li><li>
May serve as a member of the ELIN cataloguer group and works closely with cataloguers from the other ELIN libraries to develop procedures to ensure that the ELIN database is accurate and up-to-date.</li><li>
Assists other ELIN cataloguers with any difficulties they may encounter with the automated KOHA integrated library system.</li><li>
Manages the memorial book program, which includes receiving memorial donations, ordering appropriate books, sending acknowledgments, and keeping records of all donations and purchases.</li><li>
Manages meeting room reservations and scheduling.</li><li>
Acts as departmental timekeeper.</li><li>
Reviews departmental time for approval, ensuring corrections are properly made and ready for submission to the Finance Dept. Runs reports.</li><li>
Purchases office supplies, equipment, and materials for the library.</li><li>
Works cooperatively with library personnel regarding their book orders, book budget allocations, book repairs, and material processing.</li><li>
Performs a variety of routine and complex clerical work in processing, classifying and cataloguing library materials and providing service to library patrons.</li><li>
Acts as back-up to Library Specialist for entering Purchase Orders.</li><li>
Also acts as back-up for running library errands.</li><li>
Assists in other areas of the library as needed.</li><li>
Closing duties one night per week and works one Saturday per month or as assigned by Library Director.</li><li>

<p></p><div><div>This position is subject to the City of Hobbs&rsquo; Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy which includes one or more of the following: pre-employment testing, post accident testing, random testing, reasonable suspicion testing, return to duty testing and follow-up testing.</div><div>
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</div><div>
Education and Experience:</div><div>
Requires a minimum of associate&rsquo;s degree from an accredited college or university.</div><div></div><div><br>
Two years of experience in a library or similar setting preferred.</div><div></div><div><br>
Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted in lieu of stated education and experience requirements.</div><div>

Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule.</li><li>
Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.</li><li>
Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.</li><li>
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with City library personnel, other City departments, ELIN cataloguers and various book vendors.</li><li>
Knowledge and understanding of cataloguing, the Dewey Decimal System, subject headings, and library practices, procedures and techniques.</li><li>
Knowledge of ELIN (Estacado Library Information Network) and OCLC (online Computer Library Center) systems.</li><li>
Knowledge and understanding of bibliographic control, MARC formats, and collection development</li></ul><div></div><div><br>

<br><p></p><div><div><div><ul><li>The City of Hobbs will provide 80% to 90% Heath Insurance Coverage from Single to Family coverage. </li><li>Employees are eligible for 100% short-term disability coverage provided by the City of Hobbs. </li><li>Employer PERA contributions 14.8% for general, 28.775% for HPD, 30.9% for HFD. </li><li>CDL pay - $6,000 per year (if applicable). </li><li>PTO accruals start at 12 hours per month (144 hours per year) and progressively increase based on years of service to 20 hours per month (240 hours per year) at year 21. </li><li>Bilingual Pay - $1,500 dollar incentive per year upon completion of yearly proficiency test. </li><li>Education Incentive - ($1,000, $4,000, $6,000 dollars - Associates, Bachelor's, Masters; degree must be relevant to position and above the current minimum requirements of the held position). </li><li>Longevity Pay - Begins at the completion of 10 years of service. Gradually increased. </li><li>Retention Incentive - $600 incentive yearly with years 1-9 of completed service </li><li>13 Paid Holidays. </li><li>Bereavement Leave - 5 days per calendar year per personnel rules guidelines. </li><li>Military Leave - (120 hours per year for general, 183.75 per year for HPD, 360 hours per year for HFD).</li></ul></div></div></div><p></p>
