The City of Jennings is accepting applications for the Court Clerk position. Duties include routine clerical and administrative support work for the Municipal court, including computer data entry and retrieval, collecting fines during court, and interacting with the public at the counter and by phone.The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, with additional work on Tuesday evenings from approximately 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Prior court or related experience preferred. The hourly rate for this role is $17.66Duties<ul><li>Manage and maintain court records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.</li><li>Assist in the preparation of court documents and legal filings.</li><li>Handle cash transactions related to court fees and fines.</li><li>Provide customer service by answering inquiries from the public, attorneys, and other stakeholders.</li><li>Perform data entry tasks to update case information in databases.</li><li>Conduct legal research as needed to support court operations.</li><li>Draft legal documents under the supervision of judges or attorneys.</li><li>Organize and file documents in accordance with established procedures.</li><li>Collaborate with other court personnel to facilitate efficient case management.</li></ul>Experience Candidates should have a background that includes:<ul><li>Experience in cash handling and financial transactions.</li><li>Familiarity with paralegal duties or legal administrative tasks.</li><li>Proven customer service skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse individuals.</li><li>Proficiency in word processing and office software applications.</li><li>Experience with data entry and maintaining accurate records.</li><li>Knowledge of legal drafting processes is a plus.</li><li>Strong organizational skills with an emphasis on attention to detail.</li></ul>This position is essential for ensuring that the judicial system operates effectively while providing support to all involved parties.
