<p></p><div><div><div><p>The City of Lewiston Fire Department is excited to open recruitment for <b>Entry-Level Fire Reservists</b>! This is a unique, paid opportunity to launch your path into the fire service, no prior experience or certifications required.</p><p>
Selected candidates will participate in our EMT and Fire Academy, where you&rsquo;ll gain the training and certifications needed to become a Fire Reservist with the department. From day one, you&rsquo;ll be building valuable skills, hands-on experience, and a strong foundation for future career opportunities in fire and emergency services.</p><p>
This program is designed with flexibility in mind, making it ideal for those balancing work, school, or other commitments. Training requires just <b>two evenings per week (6:00&ndash;9:00 PM) </b>and <b>every other weekend (8:00 AM&ndash;5:00 PM), </b>a manageable schedule with meaningful impact.</p><p><b>
Expected Timeline:</b></p><ul><li>
Testing (physical agility and written): Week of June 1</li><li>
Interviews and Job offers: Week of June 8</li><li>
Onboarding: July 15&ndash;26</li><li>

Salary Information:</b><ul><li>
Part time Reserve Firefighter earn over $400 per 24-hour shift, up to 24 shifts per month</li><li>
Full time Firefighter/EMT $64,759.64 &ndash; $84,496.65/annual base salary*</li><li>
Full time Firefighter/Paramedic $73,209.31 - $92,946.31/annual base salary*</li></ul><ul><li><i>Firefighter positions are hired from our pool of current Reserve Firefighters.</i></li></ul></div><p></p>
<p></p><div><div><i>Essential Functions:</i><br>
<ul><li>
Perform fire suppression for the following: structural, automotive, wildland, chemical, aircraft, marine and petroleum applying appropriate techniques and extinguishing agents. Perform hazmat, rescue and extrication, and technical rescue operations as assigned or required.</li><li>
Respond with, and support operators of fire apparatus including fire engines and aerial trucks. Respond with or operate rescue squads and wildland pumpers to emergency scenes as assigned; place and operate equipment including pumping, hydraulic power tools and devices.</li><li>
Perform emergency medical skills, initiate emergency care including assessment, triage, treatment, and transport. Perform skills within level of EMS certification including but not limited to: IV, defibrillation, endotracheal intubation, medication administration, bleeding control, bandaging, splinting and stabilization, receive and transport patients.</li><li>
Respond with and operate ambulances as assigned or required; place and operate patient care equipment including stretchers, stair chairs, and other patient movement devices.</li><li>
Report shortage, malfunctions or defects in equipment, supplies and apparatus to supervisors or other personnel as appropriate; maintain records of supplies restocked in ambulances.</li><li>
Maintain, clean and inspect Fire Department apparatus; check tires, batteries, fuel, oil and water levels, wildland pumps, emergency lights, warning devices, related medical and fire equipment, and maintain all appropriate service logs.</li><li>
Assume command and coordination of emergency fire and medical incidents until relieved by a ranking Department member.</li><li>
Assures safety of co-workers while on duty and during emergencies.</li><li>
Prepare and maintain a variety of records and reports related to fire suppression, medical emergencies, medical treatment and training as directed; participate in the development and completion of goals and objectives.</li><li>
Participate in training drills and attend classes in various technical fire and EMS related activities, techniques and procedures; assist in the development and review of pre-fire plans; read firefighting and EMS manuals, participate in OTEP programs and participate in in-house training.</li><li>
Conduct safety and emergency awareness presentations; conduct fire station tours and explain firefighting techniques, procedures, policies and safety precautions.</li><li>
Perform related duties as assigned.</li></ul></div></div><p></p>
<div></div><div><p>Minimum Qualifications: Valid Driver's License, be 18 years if age or older, and a high school diploma or GED.</p></div>

Respond to various emergencies and operate specialized fire and EMS equipment.</li><li>
Drive emergency vehicles safely and efficiently.</li><li>
Utilize fire suppression agents and techniques effectively.</li><li>
Participate in ongoing fire and emergency services training and maintain EMT status.</li><li>
Perform minor repairs on equipment, apparatus, buildings, and grounds.</li><li>
Set up and operate hydraulic and emergency equipment at fire scenes.</li><li>
Maintain records, prepare reports, and collaborate effectively with others.</li><li>
Work in adverse conditions, perform heavy physical labor, and demonstrate physical agility and stamina.</li><li>
Maintain a level of fitness suitable for strenuous tasks and work with SCBA.</li></ul></div><div><div><b>
