The Department recently received public health reaccreditation and works to address matters of public health and safety, including communicable disease, strengthening the public safety net, and equitable access to care. Of the Department’s $170 million budget, more than 80% comes from grant funding. The Department is overseen by the Director of Health and Human Services and has more than 55 programs serving the health and wellness of the City.  THE POSITIONThe Nursing Services Officer is an at-will management position that is a key member of the Department's management team and reports directly to the Community Health Bureau Manager. The Nursing Services Officer is primarily responsible for ensuring the Public Health Nursing activities required by the California Health and Safety Code are carried out by the 32 employees of the Nursing Services Division (Public Health Nurses, Health Educators and Community Workers ). These activities include promoting health and safety across the life span from prenatal to older adults with a focus on maternal, child and adolescent health; vulnerable populations; and older adults.  THE POSITIONUnder the direction of the Director of Parks, Recreation & Marine, the Community Recreation Services (CRS) Manager is an at-will position within the Parks, Recreation & Marine Department, responsible for the management of the four divisions that fall within the CRS Bureau. Duties include the direct supervision of four Recreation Superintendents, Administrative support staff and several Community Services Supervisors. This position has indirect supervision of 52 full-time staff and up to 600 part-time staff. The CRS Manager attends City Council Meetings, Parks and Recreation Commission Meetings, Inter-Departmental Meetings, community partners and community group meetings to support the CRS bureau as well as the Department.The CRS Manager will be responsible for the oversite and monitoring of various budgets for recreation programs and services. They will select, train, evaluate, and discipline staff at all employment levels. They will continue to meet the vision and goals of the department’s strategic plan. The service area supports 500,000 customers, represented by 90,000 water accounts, 145,000 gas accounts and 90,000 sewer accounts in 52 square miles. This service area includes Long Beach’s downtown core, waterfront accounts, suburban areas and dense multifamily portions of the region. The department also provides natural gas service to residents and businesses in the City of Signal Hill. Water.  Directs, manages, and coordinates accounting and financial activities for the Water, Gas, and Sewer Funds, including cash management, debt administration, revenue collection, billing, fund disbursements, and transaction recording. Develops and ensures compliance with departmental financial policies, internal controls, City administrative regulations, and the City Charter.
