Assignment Duration: Approximately four to six months, however the exact duration is unknown.<br>
Schedule: Approximately 16-18 hours per week. Some evenings until 7:00 pm and Saturdays from 9:00 am-4:00 pm will be required.<br>

<div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Typical Duties</b></h2></div>
<p></p><div><p>The following duties are typical of this position. Incumbents may not perform all of the duties set forth below and/or may be required to perform additional related duties to address City needs and changing business practices.</p><ul><li>
Assist patrons with library accounts, check materials in and out, and fulfill requested items on hold.</li><li>
Issue library cards, computer guest passes, and study room reservations.</li><li>
Support patron registration for classes, events, and summer reading programs.</li><li>
Provide assistance with printing and photocopying from library computers or personal devices.</li><li>
Help patrons with information requests, book selection, research, and use of library resources.</li><li>
Support children&rsquo;s programs, including research assistance, shelving, and creating bulletin board displays.</li><li>
Promote library services through outreach at schools, parks, early learning centers, senior living facilities, community events, and other City locations.</li><li>
Track and report daily statistics.</li><li>
Maintain clean and organized public areas, including dusting and wiping down tables.</li><li>
Stay current on library programs, services, and activities.</li><li>
Deliver excellent customer service in person, over the phone, and via email.</li></ul></div><br>

<div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Employment Standards &amp; Special Requirements</b></h2></div>
<div><p><b>Knowledge of:</b></p><ul><li>
Standard library operations, circulation, and patron service procedures, including check-in/out, holds, and account management.</li><li>
Library management systems, such as Koha/Aspen, and basic office software (Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat).</li><li>
Techniques for providing excellent customer service to diverse populations, including children, seniors, and the general public.</li><li>
Methods for promoting library programs and community outreach initiatives.</li><li>
Records management principles, including tracking, reporting, and maintaining statistical information.</li><li>
Basic office equipment, including computers, printers, and copiers.</li><li>
English usage, spelling, grammar, and professional written communication for correspondence and materials.</li></ul><b>
Ability to:</b><ul><li>
Accurately perform circulation and administrative tasks using library software and office applications.</li><li>
Assist patrons with registration, research, book selection, printing, and other library services.</li><li>
Support library programs, including children&rsquo;s programs, bulletin boards, and special events.</li><li>
Deliver excellent customer service in person, over the phone, and via email.</li><li>
Conduct community outreach and represent the library at schools, parks, early learning centers, senior facilities, and events.</li><li>
Track and report daily statistics, maintain records, and perform light housekeeping of public areas.</li><li>
Learn and apply new procedures, systems, and software quickly.</li><li>
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with library staff, volunteers, and the public.</li><li>
Prioritize work, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and exercise sound judgment in responding to requests.</li><li>
Communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.</li></ul><b>
Education and Experience</b><br>
A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:<ul><li>
Graduation from high school or possession of a General Educational Development (GED) certificate; and</li><li>
Either one year of related work experience in a library, office, or classroom setting, or as an intern in an accredited college/university graduate school program.</li></ul>
Bilingual and biliterate proficiency in Spanish, as well as strong customer service experience, are both desirable.</div><br>
