Positions in this classification are structured around the needs of the division and maintenance program and the skill brought to the position by the employee. Employees in this classification are responsible for performing tasks in a wide variety of occupational areas including horticulture, grounds maintenance, equipment operation, small engine and diesel engine repair, equipment/facility repair involving knowledge of carpentry, electrical and plumbing trades.Employees are expected to function effectively and cooperatively as a member of a crew or independently as assigned. Assignments are usually written, oral or based on a seasonal maintenance schedule. Employees are expected to complete all assignments without direct supervision.Work requires the safe and efficient operation of hand, power and automotive equipment to avoid injuries to the employee, other employees, the public and damage to City equipment, facilities or structures. Duties require dealing with the public in a pleasant and courteous manner. Work is performed outdoors in a variety of weather conditions or inside depending on the assignment and the season of the year.The City of Puyallup is a community of 43,000 and is situated at the foot of scenic Mount Rainier. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
<br>Designs and constructs areas for landscaping; plants and prunes trees, shrubs and flower beds; mixes and applies herbicides and pesticides; operates hand, power and automotive equipment to mow lawns exercising safety precautions to avoid obstacles and people; installs, repairs and maintains irrigation systems, playground equipment, ball fields, fences, park benches, tables and buildings; overhauls, repairs and maintains small and diesel engines; installs concrete liners and sets up equipment for graveside services at City cemetery.Repairs and maintains a variety of hand, power and automotive equipment, such as tractors, mowers, gators, trailers, blowers, edgers, trimmers and chainsaws. Performs basic carpentry tasks such as framing and other basic construction which requires cutting lumber to proper lengths, nailing, screwing, and gluing. Performs basic electrical tasks such as pulling wire, replacing outlets, replacing light ballasts, replacing light fixtures, and basic wiring such as switches. Performs basic plumbing work such as clearing drains, installing sinks, repairing irrigation systems, running pipe, and digging needed trenches. Performs related duties as assigned.

<br>This position requires the physical strength to exert force and/or lift or carry objects weighing up to 60 pounds occasionally and 10 to 25 pounds frequently; occasionally required to lift up to 100 pounds with the assistance of another worker; requires endurance to frequently move about from location to location, on foot and by various motor driven equipment; occasionally required to remain seated for extended periods, e.g., on a mower; frequently required to push and/or pull equipment; frequently reaches and uses hands and arms and/or feet and legs to move controls on machinery or equipment; requires repetitive hand motion associated with hand and power tools; and periodically required to kneel, crouch, bend, stoop or crawl. Frequently exposed to high noise levels. The successful candidate will provide technical and clerical work in support of the municipal court. This classification requires public relations involvement, independent judgment and solid organizational skills. This position requires technical expertise in those aspects of the court operation in which consequences of a clerical error would be significant. Personal contact with police, attorneys, defendants, and other agencies in situations where considerable judgment is required. Duties require the ability to read, comprehend and verbally communicate the rules of the court in a clear and concise manner. Duties also require the proficient use of a computer/keyboard to access and input court information.</div><br>

Assists the public and explains court procedures;</li><li>
Sets cases for various types of hearings including arraignment, pre-trial, trial, mitigation, contested, show cause and motions;</li><li>
Prepares court calendars and notifying parties related to case by subpoena, summons, officer notice and bonding company notice;</li><li>
Processes continuance requests and notifies parties involved;</li><li>
Tracks cases with continued, suspended or deferred status;</li><li>
Obtains record checks;</li><li>
Reviews compliance and non-compliance reports, sends notices and prepares calendar;</li><li>
Maintains warrant control;</li><li>
Issues, recalls, processes and purges warrants;</li><li>
Maintains failure to appear control;</li><li>
Maintains time pay accounts, sends statements and delinquent notices;</li><li>
Prepares bench warrants for non-payment or prepares cases for review hearing;</li><li>
Tracks prisoners in custody awaiting arraignment, trial or review hearing;</li><li>
Maintains jail commitments and follow-up proceedings;</li><li>
Serves as court clerk while court is in session and records and documents proceedings;</li><li>

Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school and two years experience working in a district or municipal court; related education or experience in the criminal justice field may be substituted for the experience requirement. Judicial Informational System (JIS) experience is desired.</div><br>

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS</b><ul><li>
Possession of or the ability to obtain, and maintain throughout employment, a valid Washington State driver's license.</li><li><div>
