Position Summary:Maintains and repair street and drainage systems and maintain grounds by performing various duties.Duties and Responsibilities:&middot; Repairs streets with asphalt, cold patching materials and concrete,&middot; Participates in all phases of street, drainage maintenance, repair, and construction,&middot; Receives written work orders or verbal instructions from supervisor,&middot; Cuts grass and trims weeds on organization&rsquo;s property,&middot; Responsible for the cleaning and washing, maintaining, and servicing of tools and equipment,&middot; Assists other departments with public events,&middot; Must be able to work after hours call outs as needed,&middot; May be asked to perform other duties as required.Performance Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):Knowledge of:&middot; Teamwork &ndash; Balances team and individual responsibilities; gives and welcomes feedback; contributes to building a positive team spirit; puts success of team above own interests; supports everyone&rsquo;s efforts to succeed,&middot; Quantity &ndash; Completes work in timely manner,&middot; Safety and Security &ndash; Observes safety and security procedures; determines appropriate action beyond guidelines; reports potentially unsafe conditions; uses equipment and materials properly,&middot; Attendance/Punctuality &ndash; Is consistently at work and on time; ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent; arrives at meetings and appointments on time,&middot; Dependability &ndash; Follows instructions, responds to management direction; takes responsibility for own actions,&middot; Initiative &ndash; Asks for and offers help when needed.Skill in:&middot; Monitoring assigned activities,&middot; Operating assigned equipment,&middot; Time management and prioritization.Ability to:&middot; Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.Education &amp; Experience:<ul><li>High school diploma/GED required,</li><li>Three (3) months related experience and/or training, preferred,</li><li>Valid Texas Class C Driver&rsquo;s License.</li></ul>Work Environment:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or hot humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment can be very loud.Physical Demands:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
