<div><p>The City of South Lake Tahoe is seeking a skilled and dependable Maintenance Technician III for a full time, permanent position supporting safe and efficient operations at the South Lake Tahoe Airport year round. This position requires strong knowledge of airport lighting maintenance and repair, including inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing runway, taxiway, approach, and obstruction lighting systems in compliance with FAA standards. The ideal candidate will be an experienced operator of large snow removal equipment, capable of safely and efficiently using plows, blowers, sweepers, loaders, and sanders to keep runways, taxiways, and aprons clear during winter conditions. A thorough understanding of airport and airfield safety protocols is essential, with strict adherence to movement area safety, proper vehicle and aircraft separation, and proactive hazard identification. Responsibilities also include performing daily airfield inspections, covering runways, taxiways, ramps, lighting, signage, and markings, and promptly reporting and addressing issues such as Foreign Object Debris FOD, pavement damage, and wildlife hazards to ensure a safe operating environment.</p><div></div><b><br>

<b>Summary Description</b><br>
Under general supervision of assigned supervisory or management staff, provides a wide variety of journey skilled tasks in the care, cleaning, maintenance, construction, and repair of assigned facilities and equipment.; performs the full range of required operation and maintenance duties, including operation of heavy equipment throughout the City. Maintenance Technicians may be assigned to specific functional areas (streets, parks, facilities, airport) but may be reassigned to any of the sections at any time for business or career development reasons. May exercise functional and technical supervision over lower level maintenance staff during specific project assignments.<br>

Maintenance Technician III<br>
Two years full time experience as a Maintenance Technician II or four years of general maintenance and construction work in one or more of the following areas: parks, streets/storm drainage, facilities, snow removal.<br>
<br>
<b>Certificates/License Requirements:</b><br>
All class levels:<ul><li>
Possession of a valid Class B California or Nevada driver's license (Commercial Driver's License subject to Department of Transportation drug testing requirements and DMV pull notice program). If appointed from an internal position, must possess Class B prior to appointment. If hired from outside of City employment, must obtain within 6 months of hire.</li></ul>
Incumbents must be willing to work mandatory overtime when required; may be required to work nights, weekends and holidays as required in emergency situations.<br>
<br>
Special Requirements - Safety regulations prohibit incumbents from wearing contact lenses when working with certain chemicals. Incumbents in positions requiring use of a respirator are prohibited from wearing beards or other facial hair which prevents a proper respirator fit.</div><p></p>
