<div><p>Under the general supervision of a higher-level employee or supervisor, performs a variety of maintenance tasks in park areas, sports facilities, playgrounds, buildings, marina and roadways as assigned; operates equipment; leads crews as directed; does related work as required.<br>

<div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>EXAMPLES OF DUTIES</b></h2></div>
<p></p><div><ul><li>Performs related duties as required.</li><li>
Performs building and grounds maintenance such as building shelves, installing window screens and storm windows, painting, raking leaves, shoveling snow, cutting grass and collecting refuse.</li><li>
Performs park maintenance, such as mowing, planting, pruning, refuse collection, park facility repair and building maintenance.</li><li>
Lays out and maintains sports playing fields, such as baseball and softball fields and related play areas. Lays out and maintains pavement traffic markings.</li><li>
Operates various types of hand and power tools incidental to repair and maintenance, lawn mowing, weed cutting and tree removal functions.</li><li>
Operates various types of vehicles relative to transporting individuals and work operations.</li><li>
Performs general custodial, labor and maintenance tasks at various locations.</li><li>
Cleans and cares for the boathouse and restrooms and grounds surrounding the building. Daily inspects and makes minor repairs to the floats, pontoons and docks within the facility, reporting any discrepancies to the marina dock master.</li></ul></div><p></p>

<p></p><div><ul><li>Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.</li><li>
Good knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of grounds keeping and landscaping.</li><li>
Working knowledge of the principles, practices, procedures and materials used in buildings and grounds maintenance, including plumbing, carpentry and electrical.</li><li>
Working knowledge of the use and care of hand and power tools and materials used in general maintenance, grounds keeping and landscaping.</li><li>
Ability to operate and maintain motor vehicles and motorized equipment.</li><li>
Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.</li><li>
Ability to deal effectively with others.</li><li>
Ability to work independently.</li><li>
Ability to direct the work of subordinates as assigned.</li><li>
Ability for strength and endurance despite adverse conditions.</li></ul></div><p></p>
<div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</b></h2></div>
<div><p>One (1) year of experience in grounds keeping, landscaping, building construction or maintenance, or road maintenance.<br>
<br>
<b>SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:</b> At the time of appointment, possession of a valid motor vehicle operator&rsquo;s license.</p></div></div></div>
